We thoroughly enjoyed the Darling Cabin in the Woods. The location is fantastic as it is close to both Flagstaff and Sedona. The cabin was clean, well maintained, and in a quiet neighborhood which was perfect for relaxation after a long day of hiking and visiting the many sites nearby. Booking and communication with the owners was easy and they made us feel welcome in their cabin. We will certainly stay again if vacationing in the area! One recommendation for the owners to consider would be to update the couch and chair in the living room as they are a little worn from usage.

My wife and I enjoyed this cabin in the woods. With many trails less than a block away it was perfect for hikes with Captain, our German Shepard. We hope and plan to visit Flagstaff again and will try to reserve this home. It is also close to Sedona, which we is always a must to experience when in Flagstaff!

5.0   -   Great Cabin and Perfect Location
Reviewed on Oct 11, 2018
The cabin was great. I'm sure Joe and Peggy would have been helpful if we needed anything, but we didn't. The house is in great shape and had all the essentials needed for a long weekend. We had two dogs and they loved it there, too. They even had towels near the door for wet paws. Great location just a couple of miles south of Flagstaff, which made it really feel like we were out in the woods. Easy freeway access, which made it easy to get to our hikes on Mt Humphreys and our trek to the meteor crater and Winslow. The two outdoor decks were great and the cabin itself was perfect for a small family. Our daughter loved the loft space and the kitchen is a good size for cooking, plus a large outdoor grill. The TV/cable had a ton of channels. A nice trail into the ponderosa forest is just a couple of houses down. The neighborhood had a very nice park with a small pond, playground equipment and basketball. It also has a Shell gas station and a Dollar General, so you don't have to drive into town for necessities. We were even able to wake up to the first snow of the season for Flagstaff. We will definitely be back the next time we visit our daughter at NAU!

Calming and charming A frame cabin with all the comforts you´ll need for a relaxing stay in cool Flagstaff. We enjoyed evenings on the deck for nightly card games and cool breezes.

5.0   -   Perfect vacation in the pines

This is the ultimate tree house, but even better! It is fully stocked with all the essentials, comfy beds, pet towels and even a bowl, great deck, and surrounded by lots of trees. This is a pet friendly place, and our old gal loved being a very short walk away from the trail head. This meant more time in the forest. There are birds, squirrels, and quiet. It rained daily, and we delighted in having the windows open to enjoy the sweet earthy showers. Kachina Village is a quick 7 miles from Flagstaff, and a breeze to get to town or up to Snowbowl. Don't miss visiting the arboretum just West of town. And if you are lucky enough to be there while the Pepsi Amphitheater has a show, indulge. It's a sweet outdoor venue surrounded by pines. But back to the cabin. No reason to leave. Just pour a cold one, sit on the porch and enjoy.

We really enjoyed our vacation. The cabin was a perfect home base for all of our hiking and day trips to the Grand Canyon and Page. Everything was clean and comfortable. It was a great place to relax, unwind and make a meal after a fun day! The kitchen had everything we needed for basic cooking. The area was nice and quiet.

Took my 7 and 5 year old daughters here for a two night stay. We had a great time. Light switches were a bit confusing, but we made it work. Would recommend this to anyone interested in staying in the Northern AZ area and would definitely come back.

5.0   -   Lovely Cabin Perfect for Family Weekend Getaway

We took our twin 8 yr old granddaughters to Flagstaff for a 4-day weekend getaway and all of us had a wonderful time staying at this "Darling Cabin in the Woods!" It is very comfy, very homey. The girls loved the huge loft area, an area all of their own. We loved the large bedroom downstairs. The bathroom was very roomy, which is great when a couple of family members are trying to get ready in the morning at the same time! The kitchen was great... we picked up some groceries, baked chocolate chip cookies and felt right at home. It was a nice feeling being away from the hustle bustle, but even nicer to still have the modern convenience of a big flat screen TV, satellite channels and WiFi. There is a big sectional and rocking chairs and everybody had plenty of room when we all hung out in the living room. Our stay was in the winter, so we were able to enjoy a wonderful day on the slopes at the Arizona Snowbowl. A friend had told us we should rent our gear from First Chair in Flagstaff because the lines are really long for rental gear at the Snowbowl on the weekends. They were right! We got our stuff (snowboards, snow skis, helmets, etc.) the evening before and walked right past all of the people waiting in line at the slope's rental area the next morning! Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses if you go there. The cabin is in a wooded neighborhood amongst other cabins, yet it's really easy to get to the freeway and zip into Flagstaff quickly for whatever you want or need. There's also a gas station/convenience store and a Dollar General store super close by, which was nice. We toured old downtown Flagstaff and checked out the infamous haunted hotel and some other cool local sights. The girls loved watching the many squirrels and bunnies running around the cabin's yard. And they bundled up and went on a nice walk. I loved staying inside in the warm, toasty cabin. It is well-heated. We didn't get to enjoy the deck because we stayed when there was snow on the ground, but I can imagine it would be beautiful out there on a nice summer day. Enjoy your stay there! We sure did!!! :)

We had a wonderful 3 days/2 nights stay in the cabin. The cabin is very comfortable and we love to sit on the porch in the morning to take in the fresh air. The cabin's location is ideal to explore Flagstaff and Sedona. We visited Sunset Crater, Lowell Conservatory and the Meteor Crater. Very fun trip for our 13, 11 and 5 year olds.

We had a cozy & quiet week's stay and were impressed the effort put into making this neat & clean cabin well-stocked & comfortable. Perfect location from downtown Flagstaff & highway - far enough to feel we were getting away from it all, but not too remote. Enjoyed the nearby hiking and many other sights within driving distance - meteor impact crater, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Wupatki National Monument, Riordan Mansion, and much more.
