 5.0   -   A beautiful and relaxing place.
Reviewed on May 13, 2019
The property is in a beautiful setting surrounded by sahuaro and other cacti and palo verde trees. Lots of doves and quail make for entertaining sounds and watching. The house itself has two large badrooms, one with an ensuite. The second bathroom is just outside the second bedroom. Also, a living room, dining room, fully stocked kitchen, family room and washer/dryer. All are neat and clean. The home is located outside of downtown, yet only 10 minutes away. It is up a hillside with a nice view. At the bottom of the hill are retail outlets such as a supermarket, restaurants, banks, gas stations, etc. All-in-all, a very convenient location to downtown and all local tourist attractions. This is a very peaceful location, a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings.

 4.0   -   Nearly perfect!

We felt so fortunate to find this comfortable home to stay in while visiting Tucson. The most positive points of this location: 1 - home is clean and well maintained, and spacious. It's a quiet neighborhood. I felt very safe and secure there. It was just my husband and I staying at the location, but it could very comfortably accommodate 4 adutls. 2 - yard is a fantastic, comfortable desert lawn - we saw lots of wild life 3 - location made for easy access to most anything in Tucson - took about 20 minutes to get to most sites we wanted to see and experience. 4 - having the owner, Mike, next door was an added bonus. He's readily available as needed and is a wonderful resource for any questions. 5 - access to a washer and dryer is especially nice for longer stays 6 - grocery store was about 10 minutes away. 7 - heating/AC worked perfectly The only "likes" that I would enjoy added to this home are: 1) some large rugs in family/living rooms, and bedrooms, and 2) a second television and broader TV channel selections. I recognize these are kind of picky items, but would make the home perfect in my opinion. And, those items not being there would not prevent us from booking this location again. We would like to spend more time in Tucson, and will check here first for a place to stay.

5.0   -   Nice house with beautiful landscaping!
Reviewed on Mar 09, 2019
We came through a snowstorm starting at Wilcox,AZ to Tucson, low tire pressure in back tire, because of a nail, and low battery in key fob. We had all fixed. But when we got to Mike´s house all our tension melted away, because of the nice house, and beautiful desert landscaping. A javalina family was in the backyard eating a prickly pear cactus. The house is in a nice, safe area, and had everything we needed. Mike is very nice, and we can´t say enough good things about him, and his property! The Boguslaski´s

5.0   -   Stay at Casa Graciosa for the Tucson Festival of Books
Reviewed on Mar 08, 2019
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Graciosa. The house and the yard were well maintained, and the location made it easy to get to all the destinations we like. Hiking and biking trails near by. It would be nice to have a low wall or fence around the back porch, because javelinas came right up to the back sliding door several times. Thanks Mike for being a great host. We will be back next year.

We had a great stay. The house is clean, well stocked and very comfortable. The backyard is wonderful, I watched the sunrise every morning. The house sits back and it is so quiet. It is not far from downtown. Mike was very accommodating and responded very quickly. So happy to find this place as we come to Tucson every year to the gem and mineral show. Will definitely come back!

What can we add to what has already been stated about this place? This is one of our favorite rentals. Gracious hosts, comfortable home, and outstanding desert wildlife. Can go out and about Tucson area and explore all that is there. Then return to the rental to relax and watch the wildlife in the back yard. Looking forward to additional stays at this wonderful desert oasis.

5.0   -   Lovely Home, Beautiful Desert, Quiet Location
Reviewed on Jan 03, 2019
This was our first experience with VRBO, and since we were traveling for a bittersweet family gathering, I wanted to choose a well-reviewed property to reduce anxiety. Not only does Mike's house have rave reviews, there are many, many of them, not just a couple. We wanted to be on the west side of Tucson, and not too far from the Desert House of Prayer, and Mike's location was perfect. As a plus, the property is very quiet, away from big housing tracks, and has the wild desert as its backyard. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds and quail enjoy the bird baths/watering holes. Everything was clean when we arrived; we were greeted by Mike's son and introduced to the property, while also being assured that he was right next door to help us if we needed it. He also offered to help us with any restaurant or other recommendations we might need, but as we used to visit Tucson quite often in the 1990s, we had a list of old favorites we wanted to return to. The house is lovely and has plenty of common space; indeed, other members of our family stayed at a rental home in an expensive looking tract of townhomes, and our house had much more common space than theirs did (a fact we kept to ourselves). The bedrooms are also nicely sized. I loved the flooring, and the overall clean and peaceful atmosphere of the home. The kitchen had everything we needed, even an electric kettle in addition to the coffee makers and toaster, and some appliances that we didn't use but would be great to have, such as a slow cooker and blender. I'm not sure when we'll be back to Tucson, but Casa Graciosa will be our first choice to return to when we do!

This was our second time spending a few days at Casa Graciosa, and it was just as pleasant as the first time. Clean, comfortable home in a good location for a Tucson visit. Love the back patio and yard, and the access to the arroyo. Owners are wonderful people -- quick to respond and help with the slightest question. This accommodation is priced right, too. Of the many properties we have stayed in, this ranks among the best. First, is the property itself. Accurately described. Clean. Adequately equipped kitchen. Beautiful patio overlooking acres of desert with oodles of birds at the bird feeders. We ate many meals on the patio and watched the sun set. The location is perfect for taking advantage of all that the Tucson area has to offer. Safeway grocery store is minutes away. Within twenty minutes is wonderful hiking at the Sweetwater Preserve, the U. of Arizona campus, downtown Tucson, the airport, Tucson Mall, El La EnContada Mall, and scores of wonderful restaurants. Our host, Mike, had many suggestions for where to eat and directions to hiking. I could not recommend a property any more highly. A very comfortable place for two retired couples who enjoy getting out and seeing the sights.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. You felt like you were away from the world but were very close to restaurants and stores. Very close to activities like Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum. The house was at the edge of the desert and the wildlife was incredible. Mike was a terrific host and had lots of ideas about places to see and restaurants. We would return to see more of Tucson.

Another fabulous desert experience at Casa Graciosa. Convenient location to a number of tourist destinations, close proximity to stores and major highway. Couldn't believe the wildlife show in the backyard; quail, javelina, coyote, mule deer, and many birds. Mike, the owner, shares his insights and knowledge of the area to enhance the desert experience even more. Looking forward to visiting the area again with a stay at a truly remarkable desert home.

We got to experience the magical desert landscapes both at the casa graciosa and the Saguaro National Forest (West and East). The house is comfortable and well equipped, the setting is wonderful with beautiful views and surprise visits by javelinas, coyotes (passing through and chatting at night), and humming birds, quails, gorgeous cardinals, and more. The walk up and down the wash is wonderful, especially in the company of Mike Alameda. Now we are back in the wintery landscape - only partially magical - and regret having had to cut our stay short by a day. Heidi and Jack

First and foremost, our host Mike Alemeda was as gracious the name of the casa implies. He greeted us warmly, fixed the washing machine post haste, stopped by just to make sure we were having fun and made several recommendations as to sites and dining. The home is spacious and clean and well located to the Desert Museum and Tucson downtown. Because the back yard is not fenced or walled we were treated to almost every type of local wild life--no rattlers or bobcats. Our three weeks flew by and we hope the Casa Graciosa embraces many more families.

The Casa was fun. The owner, Mike, lives next door, and he was very friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. He put out a cake a bird seed for us since he knew we liked to watch birds. He made sure that the ice-maker was working when we could not figure it out. He came over and visited and offered suggestions for places to eat, etc.. The area is so convenient to downtown Tucson and other locations such as hiking trails, restaurants and so forth that we really had fun. We loved watching the birds in the yard and the coyotes in the street! The house was clean and comfy and plenty large for two people. We really liked the covered patio with a great view of the mountains.

My girlfriend and I just stayed for 8 days - the location is perfect if you like outdoor activities like Saguaro Nat'l Park, Sonora Desert Museum, Tohono Chul Park = easy access. The home is spacious and clean and we loved it! We particularly enjoyed watching birds/wildlife right out in the beautiful backyard. Mike, the owner, lives next door, and is very helpful. We really liked the quiet location - out of the city - above a wash in the foothills, with very easy access and convenient to any places you want to visit, eat or get groceries. Lovely patio to sit outside and enjoy sunsets, watching birds/wildlife, eat, and relax. Wish I could stay all winter! Mike also mentioned watching desert storms from there is pretty fabulous too. Great for two like us as each had our own bedroom/bath. Makes you fall in love with the desert - it is such a vibrant, interesting ecosystem.
