Ro and Dave´s Bear Canyon Hills Casita was one of the best homes we have had the opportunity to stay in. It was perfect in all aspects of decor, cleanliness, convenience, and layout of the new home. Ro spent much thought into providing ALL of the supplies and amenities that a traveler would need. The kitchen is amazing and beautiful – we spent most of our time enjoying cooking, eating and talking in the kitchen and outside on the peaceful garden patio. The setting of the Tucson Hills in the background and the well designed landscape made this a complete package. Groceries (Safeway) and Restaurants are just 4 to 5-minutes away, and U of A is 15-20 min. It was good to find serenity in a place a place so close to the city. We felt lucky to find Ro and Dave´s Casita in our eXtensive VRBO and Airbnb search (for our 3-night Tucson mini-vacation). Thank you.

We spent a long weekend in Dave and Ro's beautiful guest house. We enjoyed the whole thing- the back yard is gorgeous and a wonderful place to watch the Tucson sunset. It is located near beautiful Bear Creek Canyon and its array of hiking trails. If you're interested in an urban experience, its easy to get to downtown Tucson and the University of Arizona. We especially enjoyed the kitchen and the patio grill- we were abel to make a couple of great meals while watching the sun set. And Ro and Dave are great hosts. We heartily recommend this place.

Meticulously clean, and decor and craftsmanship in the home is perfect. Nice patio setting well maintained with some great views. Quiet location. Close to trails for hiking. Mount Lemmon is only a short ride away if you´re a biker and wanting to bike up the hill. The hosts were great.

This casita is absolutely perfect. It was a privilege to stay in this gem. You can feel that everything is chosen with love and good taste. Immaculately and thoughtfully equipped with every possible amenity. The views of the mountains are stunning. We loved the patio and enjoyed the large private yard where the numerous feeders attract all kinds of beautiful birds. Dave and Ro are perfect hosts: always helpful, never intrusive. All this explains why we rented again for next year. Annie and Lulu, Belgium, stayed March 2019

Very solid and comfortable structure. interior earth tones co-ordinate well -- match the setting. the grounds are extraordinary. A patio by the house for reading, and a well shaded ramada for a leisurely lunch, relaxing afternoon -- view of the mountains in one direction, creekside the other. The bed was very comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood. Everything worked well in kitchen and bathroom. Excellent walking neighborhood. 15-20 minutes to Sabino Canyon. Ro is a problem solver. At 80 years old I had difficulty backing out of the driveway. She offered a simple, elegant solution. heartily recommended.

It was a joy to stay in this casita again (our third stay). We call it a "gem". It is well maintained, very clean and comfortable with central A/C and heating. It has a lovely southwest decor and is not overly done with extra 'stuff". The kitchen is stocked with all necessary supplies and empty shelving available for food stuff. Two large closets are available for clothing and storage. We enjoy the large relaxing private yard, patio and fire pit. Online pictures do not do this place justice. It has a washer and dryer, which beats going to a laundromat when you stay for any length of time. The location is our absolute favorite. Quiet, yet close to shopping and great restaurants. You can walk to Sabino Canyon from the casita. It is a great cycling town. We love the location so much that we just purchased a house down the road from here. I understand we are not the first guests to do so. Our only regret is this will be our final casita stay. We would rate it 20 stars if that were an option. David and Ro are THE BEST host and hostess ever! They are there if you need them and invisible, if you don't. Allen and Lynda E

A very, very, very fine house is an apt and honest title for this listing. The casita is comfortable, well stocked, tastefully decorated and a true oasis in the desert. What a luxury to come back here after a day of hiking or a long day of business meetings. Conveniently located close to the Rincon Mountains and shopping, this place has it all. Dave and Ro are such kind, friendly and gracious hosts. I wish I could find as wonderful a place in each city we travel.

A beautiful property, well maintained, and such a peaceful setting; quiet & serene. Kitchen well appointed, top of the line appliances, comfy bed and everything one needs while away from home. Hosts were so very accommodating, gracious and attentive when it called for it. It is indeed a very, very, very fine house. I loved my stay. Highly recommend this for one or two people. I especially liked the keyless entry and exit. No worries about "where did I put those keys!" Dave and Ro you were fabulous hosts.

What a great holiday we had in the Tucson area recently and with such superb accommodation it was hard to leave. Dave and Rosemarie are wondeful hosts and the casita is just lovely. Make sure you visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and get there early in the day, there is so much to see. Also lots of hiking trails in Sabino and Bear Canyons and Houston's Horeseback Riding is well worth it and close by as well. Tucson Botanical Garden is fascinating with a great cafe for lunch. Altogether, so many good memories and we would love to come back some day, Andrew & Caralyn

Loved, loved, loved this "very fine house!" Very comfortable, feeling of spaciousness even if only 1 bedroom, very well stocked in every room and everything felt new and clean. Grounds give you a real feel for being in the desert and a view of the mts nearby. Outdoor eating space which unfortunately I did not use. Very much hope to be back next year.

 5.0   -   Best Casita Ever!
Reviewed on Dec 10, 2016
When my wife and I were looking for a place to rent for a couple of weeks in Tucson, we came across this casita. We immediately noticed that every single review was a 5 star review. I don't think we had seen that before and wondered if it was possible. The answer quite simply is YES!!! We have traveled extensively and have stayed in many casitas over the years and I can say quite convincingly that this is the best casita we have ever stayed in! Where to begin...First of all, Dave and Ro were great hosts. Very friendly, always helpful but we always had plenty of privacy. The pride of ownership is evident everywhere. Even the pictures don't do this casita justice. Very well designed architecturally, great artwork throughout the house and a real Southwestern feel. Very clean and very comfortable. Additionally, there is a big backyard, well landscaped, with a private sitting area right outside the casita door that has a grill, a nice table to eat at and two comfortable chairs for reading. We spent many hours outside reading in this serene environment. As an extra bonus, the location of the casita is great. We have stayed and vacationed in Tucson several times before but never in this NE part of town. We really, really liked this part of town. Removed from the hustle and bustle of central Tucson, the area has a nice rural feel to it yet we were just minutes away from major shopping centers. The views of the Santa Catalina mountains from this casita are stunning! Sabino Canyon Recreation Area is just minutes away as is Bear Creek Canyon. So the hiking was great. Also, there is a nice 2 mile hiking loop you can take right from the house that skirts the boundaries of a nearby destination spa. We ended up doing this 2 mile loop almost everyday we were here! Excellent hosts, a beautiful casita and a superb location...we'll definitely be back. This truly is a very, very fine house!

 5.0   -   A beautiful Casita.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful, charming and comfortable home to vacation in. This artistic casita was perfect for us; immaculately clean and thoughtfully equipped with every possible amenity including quality dishes and glassware, sugar, flour, a selection of tea, paper products, coat hangers, every imaginable kitchen tool, sharp knives and a well-appointed desk area for organizing electronics. I was surprised to find not only a hair dryer but a hair straightener tucked away as well. Don't miss the second closet off the living room; I almost did. The weather was still quite warm in October, so having the use of a garage for our vehicle and suitcases was essential. The location of this property is perfect; very private with plenty of hiking trails nearby yet only minutes away from grocery stores and restaurants. Be sure to check out the Morris Udall Recreation Center with huge outdoor fields, a fitness center, swimming pool and indoor sports. The outdoor space surrounding the Casita was lovely, and we enjoyed grilling and dining outdoors in our private courtyard. In the evening we looked forward to relaxing in the beautifully landscaped back yard to watch the sunset. The owners, Ro and Dave are wonderful hosts; helpful in every way, and we enjoyed their company. I highly recommend this property and plan to return next year.

A perfect house for the 2 of us. Met all our needs for convenience, cleanliness, amenities, location to State and National Parks, and helpfulness and friendliness of property owners who live on-site in adjacent home. Very pretty setting, lots of privacy (if needed), and access to the garage was an extra perk. Dave and Ro provided helpful suggestions regarding day hikes, restaurants and good conversation. They responded to text messages quickly when I had additional inquiries. I would definitely recommend this property to family members and friends without hesitation. When returning to Tucson in the near future, we will be staying at the casita again as reservations allow. The whole VRBO experience was a positive one and appreciate the quality of the property listings and the accuracy of property description.
