Wonderful casita! Cozy, clean, with great amenities and a well stocked kitchen. Lovely welcome basket. Beautiful desert views out of each of the windows and the covered patio proved to be a great place to watch the sunsets. Andrew and Rhonda were terrific hosts -- provided us with suggestions for activities, restaurants, and nearby stores. Wanted to experience early mornings and evenings in the desert and this casita gave us the opportunity to do so. Would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic location tucked away into the hills surrounding Tucson, this adobe hideaway is ideal for nature-loving couples seeking to avoid the hubbub of the downtown area. A wealth of natural beauty encircles the property. Step outside to take in the fresh Sonoran air. Marvel at the giant saguaros, listen to the desert bird calls or even take in a painted sunrise or sunset among the mountain vistas. The house itself is a southwest delight; clean, cool, comfortable and well-kept, with thoughtful touches placed throughout. The owners were genuinely hospitable and made sure no amenity was overlooked, checking in with us to see how our stay was going. You will truly feel relaxed and at home during your visit and refreshed upon leaving (though it will break your heart to do so...trust us!). The neighbors are very quiet after dark so noise was never a problem. The packed dirt road leading up to the house is not paved and is quite bumpy in places so a 4-wheel drive is definitely recommended. This house is conveniently located near Saguaro National Park, Tucson Mountain Park, San Xavier del Bac Mission and the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum. Incredible dark sky star-gazing locations can be found about an hour north at Oracle State Park. My husband and I will definitely be returning!

Totally quiet at night. Slept great. Charming decor. Host checked in to see how we were doing. Close to hiking & great breakfast place & yet not too far from downtown or airport. Observed a Javelina family one evening. Lots of fun. We highly recommend.

The Firelight Casita is a beautiful place to get away from it all. The casita itself is immaculate, well maintained, comfortable and had all the amenities a person could ask for. The location itself is amazing. Close to all of Tucson's attractions but in a quiet, private setting with 360 degree desert views. If you want to experience Tucson, this is the place to do it. I loved it! I would definitely stay here again.

As advertised....nicely appointed, thoughtful owners provide a welcome gift package. We enjoyed our stay. Only suggestion is to somehow get the adjacent house to turnoff backyard security light. Given the proximity of the two properties (about 30 feet), their security lighting illuminated this property's front seating area like a prison guard tower. And it was on the entire length of our stay. Other than that a very nice property.

Our third time at the casa or casita. The setting is still unreal in the beauty and sense of being present in the desert landscape. And yet, we are only 20 minutes from downtown or the airport. More great hiking in Tucson mountain park and a home base to other places like Madera Canyon. The casita continues to be well equipped, comfortable and peaceful. Andrew is an excellent host and went out of his way to get a WiFi issue addressed by century link. Already thinking about our next visit.

From ease of venue entry to flowers on the table; from spotlessly clean rooms to top-of-the-line appliances; from the complete array of cooking/eating/drinking equipment to the high-end audio/video/internet availability - everything about the Casita was exceptional. I would recommend this home to anyone with a desire to spend some (completely carefree!) time sitting on veranda basking in a warm desert breeze while gazing out at amazing mountain views. A perfect place for worry-free relaxation.

I spent a very special 10 days at the Firelight Casita in Tucson. The Casita is tucked away in a very private location in the mountains just to the west of Tucson. The location is just minutes from the city but it is a world away in its quiet beauty. The view from the front porch of the casita has rock formations and giant Saguaro cactus just steps from the front door. The online listing description was exactly right. Inside everything was first rate. The kitchen had everything I needed and there was even a grill on the front porch. The satellite TV and internet worked great. My cell phone service was not good, probably because of the mountains, but I just connected to the wifi and I was back in business. The casita is also just a few miles from some of Tucson's main attractions like the Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park, Tucson Mountain Park and the Mission of San Xavier. I found the Kitt Peak Observatory and the Mirror Lab at the U of A to be great places to visit. The good news is that you don't even have to fight the freeway to get around as the casita is in a good location for easy access to many of the attractions. There are several shopping centers for groceries and the like which are also just a few minutes away. I brought my telescope along and had several very good observing nights right from the yard in from of the casita. The casitas location puts it a above the lights of the city to the east and the stargazing was great. In summary I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. If you like astronomy, geology and the desert this is an especially fun place to go. It is a very natural setting with wildlife all around. I have seen lots of birds, rabbits and even a coyote. Everything was perfect when I arrived and I found everything I needed. The owners seem to have thought of everything.

The Location: You couldn't ask for a better place to commune with the Sonoran desert. Coyotes in the arroyos and nearby canyons singing at night, a great horned owl perched on the neighboring rooftop, jackrabbits standing up on their hind legs to nibble on bushes, lizards doing push-ups, surreal boulder piles and saguaros so close you can almost touch them from the patio -- all this made for a truly unforgettable stay. The Digs: Extremely well maintained/appointed and clean, with quality appliances and tasteful decorating. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of good cooking utensils and the grill worked great. Bottom Line: We will definitely come back to stay here!

Perfect rental, perfect weather for our first visit to Tucson at end of March. Well equipped kitchen, new appliances, comfortable bed, desert setting--all as pictured. The welcoming basket of local goodies was a treat. Yes, the road to house is rough--suggest an SUV--but worth it for the setting. Owner's suggestion of nearby, new Fry's grocery was helpful. Check out the sky at night. Daily sightseeing: Desert Museum, Patagonia for birds, Tombstone for fun!, Sabino Canyon for tram ride and hike, Downtown food tour with Brad (Tucson Food Tours), West National Park for views, Mission Del Bac for history (and fry bread). Great week and great stay at this casita.

My wife and I stayed in the casita for a week in December and loved it. It's an excellent jumping off point for points south and west like Saguaro National Park and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Very close to the old Spanish Mission. Easy highway access for Tombstone, Bisbee, Patagonia etc. Very well appointed house perfect for a couple or 2 couples who are close. Very responsive owner, but not on sight so you don't meet them if you don't need to. We scoured the listings and you would be hard pressed to do better that this in the price range. Beautiful desert scenery. Would stay here again.

I just returned from my stay and am missing this lovely Adobe home already! This was one of my favorite all time VRBO rentals! I would say this would be my dream vacation home! The location was perfect and had a remote feel although it was not. The Adobe home is just beautiful, clean, comfortable and well equipped. There was a pair of doves raising 2 young in the bedroom window, I was able to watch them grow up in a week! Lots of wildlife here. I saw hummingbirds, rabbits, coyotes, Great horned owl, scorpion and even a tarantula!

A senior German couple, we enjoyed the two weeks of our stay and called that place a home - a comfortable one with much charm. You will find many memories of Old Mexico in style and architecture. Therefore the casita is not only a secluded getaway to enjoy a lazy day or a starting point for adventurous hikes into the nearby mountains and the Sonoran desert (beginning with the easy stroll through the fantastic Sonora Desert Museum only a few miles away) but also an inspiring "base camp" from where you can travel back in time: to the reminders of the "Spanish Entrada" (Presidio Tubac, Missions San Xavier del Bac and Tumacacori), to the atmosphere of the Wild West (much more than only visiting the tourist trap of "Old Tucson" nearby), and to so many places where Apache Indians lived their secret lives or lurked for landhungry immigrants, greedy miners or Cavalry patrols, lost in the deserts. Yes, on our last day in the casita we played ourselves "Apache Scout Sentinel" high on the cliffs of two Saguaro studded Beehive buttes in front and behind the Casita. We would be very happy to return to this pittoresque and hospitable spot some day.

We had a very nice stay here getting away from more than we knew. The house is as advertised with the amenities being excellent, and more if new to the Sonoran Desert. While remote via the 1/2 mile dirt road, it is 10 min. to amenities, and 15-25 min. to most of all Tucson. The place is so quiet on the inside, with owls and coyotes outside at night, and good daytime birdwatching. While here, we enjoyed close proximity to the Sonoran Desert Museum, SD National Park, The Rock Shop, and Old Tucson. The San Xavier mission is nearby and worth a visit regardless of belief. (we met jeweler Joe Begay there, A must meet) Other explorations during our stay included Mt. Lemmon (a half day at least), and the Artisans Downtown. Last but not least of course is owner Andrew"s personal guided tour in the desert. Make time for it! J.S.

Found this place on VRBO and it was everything it said it was!! Absolutely delightful place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful with wonderful accommodations and amenities. The only downside is the very poor quality of the road to the casita. Would seem like all the folks along the road could make some improvements to even it out a little, a very rough ride to and from. But other than that, would highly recommend!! The welcome basket, the cleanliness, the soft towels, everything was perfect for us. Would definitely come again.

My wife and I spent a week, and wished we had booked longer. The Desert tour by our host Andrew was one of our trip highlights, and would encourage anyone staying at the casita to take the tour- you will not be disappointed. The Casita itself is cozy, with excellent amenities surrounded by elegant touches that make you feel at home. A great place to watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the front porch while overlooking the natural surroundings. While the Casita is off the beaten track, it is surprising close to the many things to do in the Tuscon area. We would highly recommend this accommodation. The desert tour with the host Andrew is a must.

The casita is very well-decorated and exceptionally clean and well-equipped. The beauty of the exposed adobe construction tastefully complemented by colorful tile work and nice artwork created a very warm interior environment. We particularly enjoyed the quiet seclusion and natural beauty of the surroundings. It was perfect for use by a couple seeking a quiet getaway off the beaten path. We have rented VRBO properties more than 10 years and this casita is among the top selections.
