 5.0   -   A Nice Desert Experience
Reviewed on May 13, 2019
We stayed here to attend our son's University Of Arizona Graduation. This location worked out great, as it was only about a 24 min drive to get to campus, but felt like a desert retreat, and out of the craziness of town. Because this house is IN the desert and among the desert life, you can expect critters. There were quite a few dead and dying bugs when we arrived, but the owners came by to clean them up. Once they did, we didn't see anymore. We enjoyed sitting on the the patios and visiting, and using the grill. The Master and Second Bedrooms are on the first floor, but there is only one bathroom/shower/tub. It was just our immediate family staying, so this did not cause a problem. The 3rd bedroom and second bathroom are up a very steep spiral staircase, so would not be suitable for older people or those with mobility issues. The dirt road to the house is quite bumpy, but we have an SUV so had no problem, but our daughter had a regular car and she was fine. Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and the house was unique and fun to stay at.

5.0   -   Beautiful, private, and picturesque home!

This house is so beautiful and well equipped with everything you need! We grilled out and ate at home for a good portion of our trip. Driving in after a long flight and drive after midnight–we were all a little speechless (and a bit worried) when we turned on to the bumpy dark remote road. We had seen the reviews, but nothing really prepares you when it is late and dark. We did follow the advice and rented an SUV–which was a smart move! When we got to the house and saw the incredible view of Tucson, we were elated! I hope we can come back here one day. I´m going to miss that bumpy road and beautiful home.

5.0   -   Relaxing stay in Tucson

We stayed here on a girls trip in March and loved this house. The bedrooms were all good sized and the living room had plenty of comfortable seating. Probably my favorite part though was sitting out around the table at night watching the stars and enjoying the ambiance. We found the house very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. I would highly recommend it.

We very much enjoyed the property and the owners quickly responded to a few questions we had. The neighborhood is quiet and we spent many evenings out back, sipping glasses of wine while watching the nearby wildlife. I recommend this place to you!

We used Home Away to travel all over the world. And this was one of best homes we've ever stayed in. It's so quiet and peaceful. The house is beautiful with an old world charm. The kitchen was furnished with everything you might need including an outdoor BBQ. We ate all of our meals in and never lacked for anything. The furniture was very comfortable which is often not the case. I appreciated the guide books they had on hand. This is what a vacation home should be.

We loved the peace and quiet of the canyon setting! The views were beautiful whether it was daylight or dark watching the lights of the city twinkle in the valley. The house was very unique and this added to the experience of our stay. Although there was only 2 of us during our stay, the house is perfect for friends or family traveling together as the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the home, with both having a private bath. There is also plenty of comfortable outdoor seating with views in every direction. Home was well equipped and extremely clean! We would definitely stay here again.

 5.0   -   What a wonderful property!

Everything about this property was perfect! The location is the main draw. The house is situated just outside of Tucson, to the southeast. The accessibility to town, sights, and hiking just steps from the front door make this the perfect location. The house is well appointed (better than some 5 star hotels we've stayed in!) and super clean. Our kids loved the spiral staircase leading to the upstairs bedroom. You have to be pretty nimble to make the climb! We would highly recommend this property for a visit to Tucson.

It was the perfect home Away experience! Everything from the interactions with Andrew prior to arrival to checking out, it was the most delightful experience I've had being in a home away from my own home. I have been traveling to Tucson for a professional training with colleagues and sharing this space made the experience truly magnificent. From the basket with coffee and treats, the beautifully decor of this lovely home all the amenities and then there is the location. Even the 1/4 mile dirt driveway made the experience even more special, we slowed down and transition us from spending all day in the downtown area to the beautiful country like setting. It truly felt like a time machine. I will be returning back here for vacation and take in all this house and location has to offer. the house is truly dreamy. My only suggestion for anyone who loves to cook while away from home is that you may want to food shop in supermarkets closer to downtown as the closest one from the house are limited in their offerings of healthier food choices.

A beautiful home located far enough away from city life that you get the feel of the desert, but not too far from necessities. So quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Loved all the real stone throughout the home as well as the true southwestern feel. This was our first visit to Arizona and we look forward to visiting again. We would not hesitate to stay in any of Andrew's & Rhonda's homes. Thank you again for the hospitality!

This secluded getaway was a wonderful experience with all the modern conveniences. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and nature walks before our hectic day a our conference. We were greeted with fresh flowers, coffee and snacks. It was in a private location but was still convenient for shopping and attractions. We would definitely stay at this home again. The owner was nice enough to even call and check to see if everything was OK and if we needed anything which has not happened with other homes we have rented. Thank you for providing such a nice home for our stay in Tucson. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Tucson.

5.0   -   The best place to stay in Tucson!!!

I have just completed my third visit to Tucson in the last three years. I stayed at one of Andrews properties each time. This visit I stayed in the larger of the two properties ID 599147 which is the three bedroom house. When I arrived everything was neat clean and in perfect order as I have learned to expect from my previous visits. I wanted to try the house mainly for the rooftop deck and the chance to try out my new telescope. The very secluded location is perfect for this kind of activity. The house sets in a saddle between the mountain peaks on the west side of Tucson and provides a great opportunity to be close to nature but remain just minutes from shopping and other attractions. The pictures on he web site give a very good idea of what you will see but the view in person is so much better. This house has a very unique design and naturally fits into the desert landscape. Step out the front door and you will feel like you are out in the old west in another time and place. I love to just sit on the porch and take in the view. The location is perfect to access a number to the main Tucson attractions without ever having to get on the freeway such as Old Tucson, the Desert Museum and the Tucson Mountain Park which are all just minutes away. I will no doubt feel the need to visit Tucson again and this will always be my first and best choice.

Tucson Time Machine is even better in person than it is in the photos! The owners clearly had quality in mind when this home was designed. The finishes are first-rate, the beds and bedding are superb, and all the wonderful outdoor spaces made our stay here one for the memory books. Waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee and enjoying the views of Sonoran desert from the patio was our favorite way to start the day. The house is private, and the location is perfect if you want to take in Tucson, but also have some solitude in nature. Andrew was very helpful and responsive, and the home was very very clean. The welcome basket with treats was a great touch with local goodies to curb our hunger upon arrival. If you're looking for a quality stay, this is the place. Look no further, just book! With any luck will be back next year!

We just spent 9 days here. It is definitely an authentic southwestern experience. We felt like we were at the Ponderosa and loved it! And the setting is spectacular. We were surrounded by mountains in all directions where we climbed and roamed. The porches were perfect places to relax in the early morning and the evenings, and enjoy the quietness and stillness hearing only the doves. The Saguaro National Park, The Desert Museum, Old Tucson, and lots of hiking are all only a short drive away. The owner was very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

This is a beautiful home in a gorgeous setting. We slept well, enjoyed morning coffee on the veranda, and saw great sunsets in the evenings. It felt remote but was conveniently located for exploring Tucson and Southern Arizona. The kitchen was well stocked and furniture very comfy. The road was fine--a short bit off the pavement with some holes to dodge--it added to the sense of adventure. The only drawback was the water--it came out in a trickle and it took quite a while to get any hot. To be fair we never called the owners to ask about it so they didn't have the chance to fix it. Everything else was so perfect.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great private location off the beaten path yet close to shopping and restaurants. Very quiet at night with star gazing on clear nights as well as the Tucson lights to the East from the upper patio . Loved the kitchen and all the updated appliances. The drive in is a little rough so take it slow. We grew to love it and all felt that it added to the appeal. Very Nice Property - we would definitely consider staying here again.

Located at the end of a dirt road, this very private property is both isolated and close to all that the Tucson area has to offer. With two large bedrooms and two full bathrooms, the house is ideal for two couples. The amenities are upscale with an open kitchen, dining room, living room. The back patio is great for grilling (Webber included) and the front porch offers mountain views of the Tucson area. Andrew was very responsive and professional. My sense is that he and Rhonda are experienced property managers. We would have no problems staying at this property again in any future Tucson visit.

2.0   -   If you like hot running water, working appliances or safe road conditions do not stay here!

We were in town as vendors attending a 10 day convention. We spent an extraordinary amount of money above and beyond any 5 star hotel in the Tucson area for 9 nights with just 2 of us staying in the house. As husband and wife business travelers we sought a house for comfort, a bit of home style and conveniences not available in hotels. Unfortunately nothing in this house is convenient or comfortable. Sadly, we could not even get a warm shower. It was a horrific stay. Of course, everything else in town was sold out months in advance because of the trade events, so we were stuck with it. There is something seriously wrong when the simple use of the showers does not work in a house this expensive. Coupled with the owners attitudes being nonchalant and without care we can't even say they stepped into help. They never showed up to fix a thing, they left it all on us. More than one source cannot use hot water at the same time. That means water in a sink at the same time someone is in shower or dishwasher at the same time as a shower. The fuse kicks out, then while wet you have to go out to the garage to flip the switch on the water heater! The same thing happens if you turn the jets in the Jacuzzi, the power kicks out! Water pressure - nope there was no water pressure to speak of. The water system for this house is a failure! Once you get water it takes about 5 minutes for it to run hot as long as the fuse does not kick out again. Then it takes 10 times longer to get a shower because the water pressure is not more than a drips at a time. If you're not handy at fixing things you should consider going somewhere else because everything that you use will requires some kind of fixing or adjusting! From the TV settings to the electronic appliances. Forget about cell signal! Once you turn off the main road you have about 1.5 miles to travel to get to the house. There is no road! It's a beaten path that has turned into a gulch; which has not been graded for a very long time. The wear and tear on our vehicles was horrible and you cannot walk around without getting covered in dirt, even from the front door. If by chance it rains during your stay your trip will be ruined because the gulch/path to the house will be flooded out. This house could be great but it will take a lot of work to make that happen. By far this is the most expensive and worst VRBO rental we have ever stayed in!!!

5.0   -   Beautiful house in an incredible setting
Reviewed on Jan 31, 2018
This was really a unique house and set the tone for our vacation! It had a very open and modern feel to it, but yet you felt like you were in a castle. When we arrived, we found the home to be very clean and well-furnished. The owners had a "welcome package" for us that included ground coffee and some other treats. Very nice touch! The house is set in what seems to be the middle of desert and it was a bit challenging to maneuver the rocky and bumpy road to get there (we arrived after dark which didn't help!) , but well worth it. In the morning when we looked out of the windows and saw all the cactus around us and the mountains in the distance, it was breathtaking! Our week there was very memorable and the house was a big part of that!

 5.0   -   Arizona Mountain Getaway

Property is exactly as shown in the photos. Was extremely clean and fully equipped kitchen with high end utensils. The owner does care about the guests' experience and it shows. Although nestled away in the mountains, shopping and restaurants are only about 12 - 15 minutes drive away. Internet speed was frustratingly slow during peak hours, but to be expected due to mountain location, late evenings it got a lot better. The description and photos do not show the owner's casita almost adjoining this property, which the owner stays in or lets out to other guests - so it is not quite as isolated as you would expect.
