3.0   -   Great place, but directly under Sky Harbor flight path
Reviewed on Apr 16, 2019
The place was super clean, very nicely decorated and had everything we needed. My bad for not noticing that smoking is allowed in this unit - so yes, it smelled like smoke and so did our clothing when we left. Lesson learned, I will always check that in the future. The biggest downside was the fact that it was directly beneath the flight path for Sky Harbor Airport - which is not far away. Take offs in the morning (starting about 6 am) and landings in the afternoon/evening -- every couple minutes. Couldn't even leave the patio door open because the sound would interrupt conversation. Not sure if that amount of traffic happens all year or if we just hit the busy time, but it was constant. Visions of hanging out reading or lounging outside were immediately dropped. (Also, there is no privacy wall on the patio separating it from neighboring patios - not that we ever saw anyone outside.) It is an easy walk to Tempe Town Lake and great paths from there - it is a hefty walk to downtown Mill Ave - and Tempe streets are pretty poorly lit - so it wouldn't be something I'd be comfortable doing after dark if I wasn't with my 6'5" husband. So, the place was clean (but smoky) and nicely decorated and stocked with everything - the neighborhood quiet and well located, but honestly, the air traffic was a deal-breaker for us.

Beautifully furnished, about a mile walk to downtown Tempe, Easy access to freeways, and very quiet!

 5.0   -   Comfortable updated condo
Reviewed on Apr 05, 2019
The unit is comfortable with updated furnishing and decor. The kitchen had everything we needed. In some rentals the nonstick pans are scratched and peeling, the cutting boards are unusable, flatware is so light it bends easily, and the knives are dull. NOT HERE! We travel with our own knives and cutting board but that was unnecessary in this unit. The bed is comfortable and the living room furniture is as well. When we checked the propane tank on the BBQ grill, we noticed it was very light so we called Nathan. Since we were going to grill that evening, he gave us a choice to take it with us to the store since we were going anyway and he would reimburse us, or he could replace it the next day. We couldn't tell how much propane was in the tank and we didn't want to waste any, so chose to take a chance and use the grill and have him replace it the next day. We also searched for a cork screw and couldn't find one, he said there had been 2, so the next morning both were replaced. We thank him for his quick response and the options he gave us. We have utilized the multi-use path on both sides of the lake on many occasions and we looked forward to that again on this trip. We also looked forward to walking to dinner on Mill. Our next comments have absolutely nothing to do with the condo but would influence our staying in this location again. This area of Tempe is experiencing rapid growth. From one vantage point, we could see 7 cranes being used on high rise buildings. Along with infrastructure work, that was ongoing, it was difficult to get around either walking or driving. Sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic lanes and entire streets were closed. The 3 main East West streets were affected (Rio Salado, 5th & University) as well as Mill and Hardy (the street the condo is on). The best way to walk to Mill is on 5th. Our first night we did just that. On the way back, although there are lights on both sides, they are dim and above treeline so the sidewalks were pretty dark. We didn't feel safe and didn't attempt that again in the dark. Two weekends in a row they had large events in the Tempe Town Lake park. That's great but not if you want to utilize the path. Large trucks were moving trailers and RVs and didn't care if they backed up into walkers or joggers. Maybe they thought their backup beeper was enough. Large trucks setting up or taking down were present the entire first week of our trip. Great unit but will check road construction next year.

Thank you Tempe Townhouse for a great stay! This townhouse is newly remodeled, has an open layout, and well decorated in a rustic modern feel. The living room was spacious with comfortable couches and a big screen television with many channels to choose from. The bedrooms are large with wall length closets and comfortable beds. There is private parking right in front of the townhouse. It is in a perfect location, walking distance to Tempe Town Lake and downtown. The perfect place to stay in Tempe!

Really enjoyed our 4 night stay. We had a few issues that came up during our stay, but they were addressed immediately. There was plenty of room for our family of 5, and it was very comfortable. Do be aware that it is close to the airport, so there is some airport noise.
