  • Perfect place for family to gather

    5 of 5

Esplendido was a wonderful place to gather our family of young adults from Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, and Oregon. It had wonderful spaces and everything we needed and more! We enjoyed preparing meals and eating at the dining room table overlooking a most amazing landscape. The pool was the center of activity on some beautiful Tucson days. Mario was a most generous and gracious host. We are thankful. J & D

  • Absolutely great family time together!

    5 of 5

My family of 6 plus one significant other stayed at this property in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains. Our first reaction upon arrival - WOW! Mario and Arlene's home is beautiful and provided such a great place for our children aged 18 to 26 to gather and celebrate the holiday's together. We did two very rigorous hikes in the local state and national parks which are both within a 20 minute drive. The kitchen allowed us to cook two dinners plus all breakfasts and a few lunches in - if you like to cook this is a paradise. The temperatures were very cold for Tucson - 30's at night and only high 40's or low 50's in the day, but the heated pool and hot tub were easily at a temperature to enjoy. We were glad we paid the extra to have them available. The layout and décor of the house were top notch, and the only thing I could say is this is a house to be cautious if you bring small children given the potentially breakable items used in decorating as well as the many steps between the different areas of the home. Mario and Arlene are exceptional hosts and were most helpful before, during and after our visit (unfortunately my one son left a meaningful pillow which was graciously returned within a week of our stay - thanks Mario!). Oh, and the views outside and through the windows of the home - we could look at those views all day long!

  • This is a fabulous house.

    5 of 5

My family and I stayed here to celebrate a member's birthday and it was the perfect house for a small gathering. The house is lovely--large, very clean, comfortable, quite tastefully decorated, has an incredibly well-equipped kitchen in which it is a delight to cook, and has beautiful views of the hill behind the house. We had delightful walks in the neighborhood and were fortunate enough to see some wildlife. (What a treat for those of us who are city dwellers.) The owner was very responsive to our questions and needs. Overall, this is a wonderful property owned by people who clearly care about maintaining a high quality house.

  • Beautiful home, helping hosts

    5 of 5

This is a truly beautiful home. Hosts were accessible for questions and very accommodating. We were travelling with small children and they let us check in early which allowed us not to miss nap time. Home is spacious and everything you could possibly need for a kitchen is available. Not the greatest home if you have toddlers that are a bit rowdy as the home is filled with many beautiful collectibles and antiques. Ours did OK, but we did need to keep a close eye on them. Amazing views from the pool, i would stay here again...when the kids are a little bigger

  • A little slice of paradise

    5 of 5

My family of 6 (wife, husband, three adult children plus a bonus "daughter"), stayed here the week of Christmas, 2017. We could not have had a better experience. The setting was just what I had hoped - great views of the nearby mountains in one direction, and beautiful views of the lights of Tucson at night in the other direction. I especially loved the desert landscaping surrounding the house - it was such a treat to see majestic cacti and a lemon tree and all the other desert plants that are so different from my home in Virginia Beach. The house itself was meticulously maintained and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with every appliance, utensil, dish, bowl, mug, pot, pan, baking sheet, etc that you could imagine. It is clear that the owners spent some time trying to anticipate what their guests might ever conceivably need. There were also a lot of spices, condiments, coffee, tea, paper goods, etc., which you are encouraged to use. Everything about this house is high end - the decorating, the furniture, the bed linens and towels - but at the same time, also very comfortable. The location is away from the downtown, but still close to needed services like grocery stores and restaurants. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the 4th Avenue downtown area, about 45 minutes to get to the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum (a must for all visitors), and about 35 minutes to get to the Tucson airport. The owners were very good at communicating with us before, during and after our stay. I felt comfortable knowing I could reach Mario by phone if I had a question or an issue, although I never had to call him. My philosophy about vacation rentals is that the higher the price is, the more entitled I am to expect everything about the place to be clean, functioning, good quality, well-stocked, convenient, as advertised, and comfortable - in short, to be perfect. In this case, with one of the higher priced rentals in Tucson, I felt completely satisfied with my investment. We experienced a memorable Christmas family gathering at a home that was as close to perfect as I could expect. Thank you, Mario!

  • Beautiful "As Advertised" Property, All the Comforts of Home in an Amazing Setting

    4 of 5

Stayed for 5 nights and wish it could have been for more. Our family of five appreciated all the unique aspects of the home and the pool. Great location and the owners really want you to enjoy your stay. They might want to invest more in their property manual to help you familiarize yourself with the home at the start. However, we would definitely stay at this property again.

  • Outdated and in disrepair

    1 of 5

This is not a safe place for toddlers or the elderly. Small dangerous steps when navigating from the bedrooms to the main house. Two of the bedrooms had no significant ventilation and all of the mattresses are old and inexpensive. The outdoor grill is a dangerous mess and needs to be replaced. An outdoor spa is advertised but only one of the jets is operational. Buyer beware. Definitely not worth the price.

  • Lovely Home, Beautifully Appointed, Extremely Gracious

    5 of 5

Our holiday was tremendous and we will happily return to this lovely home. It is like visiting a resort, but without the staff afoot! The owner's daughter greeted us despite our delayed arrival, touring us through the beautifully designed property. Her mum clearly has a love for cooking; the kitchen was brilliant and had all manner of bits and bobs one might need. We enjoyed tea in the courtyard and an evening pint sitting poolside watching the sunsets - colours unlike any other and millions of stars for an encore! The location is ideal - close enough to town for touring and shopping, while removed enough to be surrounded by natural desert and the wildlife it contains. Views of the mountains surround the property, with close-up views from the rear of the property and distant mountains beyond the lights of the city. Our mates enjoyed hiking the trails through Pima canyon, while we cooled off at Kartchner Caverns. We visited too many art galleries (or so my husband says!) and watched glassblowing at Philabaum; what a treat. Whether you want to be on the go all day or relax by the pool and enjoy the surroundings, I highly recommend a stay at "the Oasis"!
