  • Play before Work

    5 of 5

I had to come to town for work and wanted to get in some hiking and this little Casita turned out to be the perfect spot. Less than 5 minutes to the Tom's Thumb trailhead, I was able to get to the trailhead right at sunrise and be back in time to get to the job in Paradise Valley before 9. The Casita itself is like a small hotel room, but much more comfortable. I don't know if it was the cool desert air, comfy bed, or maybe Nancy's delicious oatmeal cookies, but I had the most restful sleep I've had in a long time. Nancy and Rene were very warm and showed me everything I needed to know. It's about a 10-minute drive to restaurants and AJ's fine foods, Love AJ's! And not too much farther to the 101 All in all, it was a great stay.

  • Cool Off In The Hills Above Scottsdale

    5 of 5

Do not hesitate to stay in this cozy and quaint Casita north of Scottsdale in the exclusive Troon Neighborhood. Rene and Nancy were wonderful hosts, and the grounds of their home well appointed. What surprised us the most was the 15 degree reduction in the hills at their 2700 foot elevation.

  • Wonderful, quiet, relaxing time

    5 of 5

We were looking for a relaxing quiet holiday, and this place was perfect. Nancy and Rene were gracious and welcoming hosts- unit was very clean and comfortable. They had it stocked with many extras- maps of local hiking trails, walking sticks, sunscreen, fresh baked cookies, and much more. Appreciated the large walk-in closet and the bed was very comfortable. Hot tub was wonderful- it felt great to sit in after a day of hiking! Thanks again- hope we can come again soon!

  • An Oasis to be ENJOYED!!

    5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the Casita for 5 nights in early April. Rene and Nancy are such accommodating and hospitable hosts. They shared their tranquil backyard with us and the panoramic views are spectacular. The Casita is cozy and quaint and its location suited our needs to a 'T'. Looking forward to our next visit in the fall. We cherished the opportunity to make 'friends' with two very, special people.

  • A Little Slice of Paradise!

    5 of 5

This was our first trip to the eastern Scottsdale area. As hikers and mountain bikers we were drawn to this location because of its proximity to the McDowell Mountains and the state park. What a delightful surprise to arrive at this absolutely lovely property and to be greeted so warmly by our gracious hosts, Nancy and Rene. The studio casita was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully appointed with all the necessities for our visit. Nancy even provided a plate of homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (perfection!) and a basket of fruit. While the VRBO site photos accurately portrayed the attractive interior of the casita, pictures really did not prepare us for the extraordinary beauty of the property's desert landscapes, both wild and domesticated. There were exceptional views from every perspective...of mountains, saguaro cactus, and flowering desert plants and bushes. We were thrilled when Rene alerted us to a small group of javelinas wandering through a nearby wash! The bird watching opportunities at the back patio bird feeder were excellent and we never tired of enjoying the desert sunsets in front of the outdoor fireplace. We only wish the weather had been a bit warmer so that we could have enjoyed a post ride soak in the pool or hot tub. Thank you, again, Nancy and Rene, for this wonderful experience and your kind hospitality!

  • Wonderful Experience!!

    5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed in Nancy and Rene's casita. Everything about it, the countless amenities, the beautiful unique location, and especially the VERY accommodating hosts made our visit memorable. The other reviews describe all of the special extras that Nancy and Rene provide but you still have to be there to understand how special it is! We could hear owls and coyotes (once) at night and from the bed in the morning we could look up at the beautiful mountain out of a window. My husband even felt so inspired that he wanted to go for walks and hikes (walking sticks were in the room) -- believe me, that does not happen often!

My wife and I stay for a week at the Casita. It is great location to stay in Scottsdale. The Casita was clean very comfortable and quiet. The property owners, Rene and Nancy, are super nice people and excellent hosts. The use of their beautiful backyard was appreciated. The location setting is gorgeous and a perfect home base for cycling the roads of Scottsdale,Cave Creek and Carefree as well as the trails in the McDowell mountain park. I will be back again.

  • Holy Cow!

    5 of 5

We traveled to Scottsdale for thanksgiving, and when we arrived to the house were blown away. Not only was the property well laid out and decorated, the arrangement of the casita was perfect. It had its own private entrance that we could come and go through. Unless we planned to meet for coffee or tea, we didn't see the home owners once, we felt very private. The Casita itself was cozier and more homey than my own bedroom!! It was decorated as a true casita with old western antiques and beautiful Western artwork. For a studio there was amble room and plenty of amenities. Homemade cookies, coffee, toiletries and fresh fruit were a huge plus! Overall it was the best travel rental experience we have ever had, and we travel A LOT. We highly recommend staying with this wonderful couple and their wonderful casita!

  • Beautiful accommodations, Gorgeous setting!

    5 of 5

First of all, the property owners were absolutely wonderful and kind and welcoming. They have thought of everything you could possibly need in their cozy casita. From the amazing cookies, the personalized welcome sign, fresh fruit, bottled water, extra lotions, sunscreen, bath robes, pool towels, iron, scissors, and even zip lock bags! And then the setting - just gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after a day of rock climbing or hiking. I highly recommend this property!

  • Pictures don't do this casita justice!

    5 of 5

What a gem of a place! Nancy and Rene are the perfect hosts for this perfect desert gem. Not a detail was missed...inside and outside the beautiful cozy casita! Close to trails, restaurants and the breath taking beauty of the desert-we saw cayote, deer and even a roadrunner without leaving the neighbourhood! We loved our stay and have already spread the word☀️

  • Amazing!!!

    5 of 5

Nancy and Rene are amazing! They are the most gracious hosts. We felt so welcomed and comfortable. They have thought of every detail. The Casitas is clean, well appointed, and comfortable (and the cookies are sinfully delicious). When they tell you the backyard oasis is yours to use they do mean it. Gorgeous views to wake up to and hiking trails within walking distance. We have our calendars out and are currently planning a trip back!!! Thank you again!!!

  • Feels like Visiting Family

    5 of 5

Our first visit to Scottsdale could not have been more delightful. We knew we were at the right lodging as our guests, Nancy & Rene, warmly greeted us at the door to their lovely Casita. It felt like visiting family. The cozy, western décor set the stage for our entire visit. The cactus covered hills greeted us every morning on our walks. A new kind of beauty, so different from our Midwest roots. The Casita has everything you need for a fun filled getaway to the west. It’s charming and comfortable with all the amenities to make a light breakfast or lunch. The use of their spacious patio and spa is icing on the cake. It’s truly a 5 Star experience!

  • An absolute gem!

    5 of 5

As much as we wish to keep this gem to us, we find ourselves often telling our family members and friends about how marvelous this place is and the pleasurable experience we had. We speak of this place very highly and without hesitations, recommend it to our friends for their rendezvous. This cozy casita has so much to offer and it surroundings will sure ignite the romance. We absolutely LOVE it! The clear blue sky, sparkling stars, Nancy’s flickering candles, outstanding mountain views and hot bubbly Jacuzzi sure sets a very romantic atmosphere. And to top it off, the owners (Nancy and Rene’) are absolutely an amazing couple with gushing hospitality. They are definitely the icing on the cake and will definitely make you feel at home here. Due to its popularity, it books quickly. So, if you are currently planning a trip and have certain dates in mind, you better book this lovely casita fast. My husband and I already planning on visiting again early 2015 and we surely cannot wait.
