  • Very Very Relaxing

    5 of 5

We were blown away at the ranch. The directions were on target and were in awe with the views. Barb and Joe were the beat host and gave some great advice. We visited a lot of sites but always relaxed back and the ranch( breeze) pictures are spot on and front porch has great morning sun and back porch had evening sunset. In the morning ( with coffee) jack the dog would visit make sure eventhing was good and then leave for next guest. We will return and we have already have friends that want to visit. This is the way homeaway is suppose to be run. Five stars

  • Better than expected. Beautiful.

The hosts go out of the way to be helpful. The location is beautiful. Sunrise and sunset views are awesome. Enjoyed watching the hummingbirds while sitting on the front porch. Couldn’t ask for more.

  • A for Arizona

    5 of 5

This property and hosts Joe and Barbara check off all the boxes for a great stay ... they even have Jack, the world's nicest dog. It is reachable by dirt road in the northeast foothills, with great mountain views from front and back second-floor porches. Birds and rabbits are plentiful, with one coyote sighting. Comfortable living space with lots in the kitchen and a Safeway is about five miles away for any other needs. Hiking in two directions right from the property, plus short easy drives to Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park East. Golf about three miles away. Not a lot to choose from on restaurants nearby, but we were content to use the big grill on the back porch several nights, and drive into cool old Tucson on other nights. This a great place to appreciate the special surroundings.

  • Quiet with amazing views!

    5 of 5

Loved this place! Off the beaten path, but not far from parks, hikes and stores. Barbara and Joe were the perfect hosts! They were available, kind, and "in the background". The whole place was stocked with items we may need, plus thoughtfully had the bar equipped for our first night! Quiet front porch to animal watch, and a quiet back patio for grilling and eating while looking at the hills. The hummingbird feeder kept me entertained while I drank my coffee. We had great weather, and it is close to many hikes. We would be happy to return!

  • Great Tucson Experience

    5 of 5

As an ex-Tucsonite from the 70s-80s, I could not have been happier with our accommodations during a recent father/son trip in late March/early April 2018. Joe and Barbara's compound near Agua Caliente Park in East Tucson is a true desert experience, with optimal privacy and space to explore. Much of Tucson has been built up - this location is spacious and open - you can wander for acres and acres without feeling like you're trespassing or walking into someone's yard. I have so many positive things to say, I'll try to consolidate: Hosts (Joe and Barbara (and Jack - the dog)) - Very accommodating and gracious, treat you like a friend. Easily accessible without being even remotely intrusive. My son loved seeing Jack whenever he could. Location, Location, Location - It's what I wanted - a remote desert experience, the unit has both east (sunrise) and west (sunset) balconies with gorgeous views. Coyotes howling in the distance at night, birds chirping in the AM. Saw rabbits, quail, dove, and closeup hummingbirds every day. Saw roadrunners and coyotes while driving near the house. Shopping is about 8-10 minutes away. Facilities: We used horseshoe pits and hot tub - come and go as you please. I hiked from the front of the gated compound to Agua Caliente Park and from the back of the compound out via a wash to some private desert areas. I used the front bed, gorgeous sunrise views - my son used the back bed for privacy. We used the apartment as a base for day trips and did not spend that much time there, just leisurely mornings with coffee and wildlife, and evening sunsets and TV before (in) bed. I could see someone staying all week though, and not leaving other than for groceries. Bottom line: 5/5 and would love to rent again. Joe said his other option on the compound is even nicer. The Breeze was perfect for us and the experience exceeded all expectations. Thanks!!!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Caliente Creek ranch.. Barbara and Joe were very helpful in recommending restaurants and places to visit during our stay. The sun rise and sunsets were beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • Great Place to Relax

    5 of 5

Staying at "The Breeze" was a wonderful experience, because our motivation to visit Tucson was to relax in a quiet rural setting and enjoy the desert weather. This place was an excellent choice to achieve that. We enjoyed sitting on the front balcony and watching the birds and critters come and go. Across the street is a county park with walking trails, a pond with a variety of ducks, educational programs and an historic house. The apartment is well furnished and very comfortable; everything we needed was right there. Our only concern with the layout is that the kitchen area is rather small -- OK for light meals but cooking a full dinner would be a challenge. Joe provided helpful information about the area and what to do. Driving to downtown takes about 30 minutes; we did so only once because much of what we wanted to do was east of downtown. A variety of commercial facilities is about three miles away. We highly recommend this place!

  • Great place and location

    5 of 5

We just stayed at the Caliente Creek Ranch this past weekend. We loved it! The owner, Joe, was really great and personally showed us places to walk and hike from the property. He also gave us a number of tips about things to see and do in Tucson. The property was beautiful. It is in Tuscon, but also out in the country, so it is very beautiful with lots of birds and wildlife. My husband and I are birdwatchers and we really enjoyed the hummingbirds and other birds on the property. From the property, you can walk down a wash, which is quite beautiful and also to the nearby Aqua Caliente park. The rooms we rented were up a spiral staircase and had two balconies, which we loved to sit on and watch the birds and sunset. The rooms were very nice, clean and well equipped with all you need for a stay. Great place!!

  • Great Location - Comfortable Relaxing Stay

    4 of 5

Joe and Barbara were very accommodating. We stayed at "The Breeze" upstairs retreat. Lovely location and close to Mt. Lemmon and lots of hiking available. There are restaurants nearby, but you are able to cook in the kitchen as well. The kitchen is small, so not as easy as a regular size, but can be done and we put it to use mainly for breakfast. King Size Bed which was what we wanted. There was also a Queen size bed in a smaller room in the back which we didn't use. Very quiet, laid back and just peaceful. Lots of wild birds, so quiet and relaxing. We only stayed three nights - wish we could have stayed for more. Probably will be back.

  • We loved it!

    5 of 5

We really loved our time at Caliente Creek Ranch. The apartment was very nicely decorated in a Southwestern decor with a luxurious bathroom and a nicely arranged living room/kitchen space. We loved watching all the wildlife from the eastern facing front porch and the sunsets from the back patio were breath-taking! Barbara and Joe were very friendly and accommodating telling us about the flora and fauna in the area as well as things to do in and around Tucson. We were greeted with wine and a bowl of goodies in the kitchen and Barbara brought up fresh-baked oatmeal cookies one afternoon! It was a peaceful and relaxing stay and we enjoyed soaking up the beautiful Arizona sunshine in such beautiful desert surroundings.

  • Hard to leave "The Breeze" where the quiet calms the nerves and soothes the soul.

    5 of 5

This is our second month-long stay at the "The Breeze" on the Aqua Caliente Ranch - need I say more? "The Breeze" is located on the second floor above the main house accessed by a outside spiral staircase situated on the front of the house. It is a large apartment suite that is beautifully decorated with Barb's art work and has all the amenities that a person requires (laundry is located just off the garage). Barb and Joe are the most wonderful hosts and of course, I can't forget to mention that they have a dog "Jack" who is very friendly and has the best disposition - I would take him home if I could! On arrival, both Joe and Jack greeted us and there was a wonderful welcome basket in the suite, and on departure, Barb and Joe presented us with a "goodie" bag filled with treats for our "on-the-road" trip back home - this was very thoughtful of them and greatly appreciated. The ranch is located on the outskirts of Tucson - close the Catalina highway to Mt. Lemon and not far (approx. 6 mi) from shopping venues. There are lots of things to do in Tucson - the Pima Air Museum, the Desert Museum, the Titan Air missile site, Saguaro Park, Sabino Canyon, Mt. Lemon, ... Just across the way is the Agua Caliente Park and behind the house is a wash - both are great places to bird watch. In fact, one day at dusk, two great horned owls came and perched on the antennae at the top of the house - they hooted for some time before they left to hunt. Our mornings were spent sitting on the front deck having coffee while watching all the birds and wildlife - and in the evenings, sitting on the back deck watching some very spectacular sunsets while barbecuing our supper. The quiet calms the nerves and soothes the soul, Barb and Joe are never intrusive and make you feel most welcome - we loved our stay.

  • Caliente Creek Ranch was excellent!

    5 of 5

My stay at the Ranch was absolutely lovely. The casita that is located on the top of the house is fully equipped to enjoy a stay for however long you will be needing. They have everything a little kitchen requires, a beautiful porch overlooking Mt Lemmon and the hosts are as nice as can be with their friendly dog in toe! I will definitely be looking to them the next time I come to Tucson!

  • A Total Delight

    5 of 5

A pure delight for 5 weeks in Dec/Jan., in the apt above the house, with two lovely outdoor patio views for any time of day or evening. Their description is quite accurate, but what Barbara and Joe do not highlight enough is the beautiful five acres of desert nature surrounding them, which they own: Birds and coyotes and rabbits have the run of the place, and behind the house is a delightful wash which for us ran at least half the time in the rainy spells and well thereafter, a clear noisy creek with riparian habitat--a lovely desert combination. The owners could not have been more helpful. Quiet, a nice part of "town, " really country. We loved it. Mike and Stephanie

  • Great views with comfort and convenience

    5 of 5

We spent the month of February 2016 at Caliente Creek and could not imagine a more pleasant place for an extended stay. It is exactly as described and pictured: a very clean, comfortable, nicely furnished, and well-equipped home on a several-acre nicely landscaped lot in a beautiful desert neighborhood. The large rooms with large windows, shaded front porch overlooking the Rincon Mountains and Saguaro National Park a few miles south, and rear deck overlooking the Catalina Mountains a few miles north all combine to make this an exceptionally nice place. Sunsets from the rear deck are especially spectacular. The owners are very friendly and helpful, offer advice when asked, and allow use of their washer and dryer. Roadrunners, javalinas, rabbits, hummingbirds and other desert birds/animals are commonly seen from the porch and we often heard coyotes howling in the distance at night. There is much to do in the nearby surrounding area, including visiting/hiking/picnicking in Saguaro National Park, Sabino Canyon, Bear Canyon, Agua Caliente Park, and driving up 9,100 foot high Mt. Lemmon in the Coronado National Forest on the Sky Island Scenic Byway which has spectacular scenery. Easy day-trips can be made to Madera Canyon, Colossal Cave Park, Tombstone, Kartchner Caverns State Park, Casa Grande, and Tortilla Flat in the Superstition Mountains. In addition, a variety of nice restaurants as well as excellent shopping are within a few miles.

  • Property was beautiful....spectacular views!

We did fill out a questionnaire before we left. It was about 30 min. to downtown Tucson. Wonderful location. Property was very clean and well maintained. Only saw one owner but was very helpful. Yes...very good customer service provided. I would definitely recommend this property. There are many things to do nearby and in Tucson. Drive up to Mt. Lemon, Aqua Caliente Park, Can check out U of A. Many restaurants. Saw a great music show at the old Congress Hotel. Rented bikes. Check out Tubac.
