We stayed for three nights in mid-February 2019. The property is situated on the NE corner of greater Tucson, close to the Catalina highway. We stayed here because of the proximity to Mount Lemmon and the Catalina mountains. The space is detached from the owner's house. The owner is an artist and the walls are decorated with some nice examples of his work. There is plenty of room for two. The main space serves as sleeping quarters, and TV / lounge area. There is a back porch with seating and a BBQ. The kitchen area features a microwave, firdge and freezer. The only "odd" thing is that there is no kitchen sink; we stacked our dirties in a bowl and the owner took care of it from there; it was not an issue. the bathroom is spacious, the water pressure fine and the water hot. it takes a minute to warm up, a long feed pipe to the shower. We would highly recommend the property if you want to be in this area of Tucson. It's a stretch to the downtown area, but not insurmountable.

We stayed for 4 days at the Catalina Ranch Estates in February of 2019. The guest suite was large, very clean and attractively furnished. It was very thoughtfully equipped, with everything we needed, including high quality disposable plates, silverware, and coffee. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. We sat out on the very private porch and drank wine in the evenings after hiking all day. We had a wonderful time and hope to return!

We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. It was clean and met all our needs. The king bed was very comfortable. They have a kitchenette not a full kitchen but we knew that when we booked. We made use of the bbq outside on our private patio. They even refreshed our towels after a few days. They also provided coffee for us. We enjoy our privacy and we had that here. Close to attractions on the east side of Tucson.

Very pleasant, clean accommodations. Rarely saw Tom but when needed when we locked ourselves out, he responded within fifteen minutes. We intend to come back to Tucson and will consider Catalina Ranch again. It is close to Saguaro East, Sabino Canyon, the DeGrazia Gallery, and the Catalinas.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised when we opened the door to our little Casita at the Javelina Homestead... it was bigger, brighter and even prettier than the pictures. We spent 10 days...and have already reserved for three weeks in the fall. The proximity to the Saguaro National Park, Sabino Canyon and the Biking Loop made it a perfect location. Restaurants and groceries are about three miles away. Great sunsets off the back porch...every night! The owners, Tom and Bonnie, were very accommodating. One helpful hint if you are visiting in December/January... pack warm clothes! We might also recommend Broadway Bicycles for bike rentals and of course you must visit Tanque Verde Ranch and see or ride the horses. It is about ten minutes away and open to the public daily! This was our first visit to Tucson, but we see many more visits for hiking and biking in our very near future. We´re hoping we can always stay in The Sweeney´s Casita!

 5.0   -   Charming Casita
Reviewed on Oct 02, 2018
My husband and I rented this casita for a cycling vacation. It couldn´t have been more perfect for us. The casita is located just off Catalina Highway which is the road to Mt. Lemmon. It is a separate casita from the main house with use of their in ground pool, making it very private. The casita itself was very charming, clean and quiet. Tom was very helpful when needed, but did not intrude on our privacy. The location is perfect; close enough to the main roads, but just far enough out for quiet and privacy. We stayed here as a base for our cycling adventures, but it would be good for anyone wanting to explore Tucson.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the foothills of the Catalina Mts. Wow, the beauty all around was stunning. We loved relaxing with coffee on the back patio after a day of exploring! Our accommodations were wonderful- private, quiet, safe, comfortable, with everything we needed for our weeks visit to the desert including wildlife in the back yard. This was a great location for seeing the many sights of the Tucson area, easy access to hiking, shows, gardens, museums, historical attractions, shopping, and restaurants. We couldn't have had a more memorable anniversary!

The guest house was just as it was described. The location was perfect for us. The property is in the country with great views of the mountains and desert landscape, however; it is close enough to easily get into town and on the highway! The one pleasant surprise were the paintings in the guest house! Thomas is a talented artist and his works adorn the home.

Available and welcoming, Thomas & Bonnie have set up a lovely studio with views to the Sky Islands, the stars, and the desert garden. After a day of hiking, play lizard by the pool, or enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown Tucson. Kitt Peak Observatory is within reach for those who want to go deep into space. The hiking through the Saguaro forest is unmatched and proves again how full of life the desert is. Don't miss the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum if you love natural history or botany. If you want to go to sleep listening to great horned owls and awake to desert birdsong, this is the place. The spacious studio is furnished with charming antiques, and offers a gracious bath and walk in closet with skylights, a cozy kitchenette and a gas grill on the covered patio. Studio is warmly decorated with desert tones and Thomas' juicy oil paintings of nearby surroundings. Two bottles of wine anticipate your arrival, along with serene desert quietude.

This is a well-maintained property. The guest suite is as described, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The suite is spacious and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed. The location was very convenient to the places we visited while in Tucson: Saguaro National Park, Sabrino Canyon, and the Mount Lemmon road. It was so relaxing to come back to the guest suite each evening and enjoy a leisurely supper on the patio. We especially appreciated having a gas grill on the patio. If we vacation again in Tucson, this will be our first choice of where to stay.
