  • Great location and very comfortable

    5 of 5

Really enjoyed drinking coffee in the morning and cocktail in the evening from the rear yard overlooking the meadow. Elk. Coyotes and lots of birds.

  • Wonderful, charming home!

    5 of 5

This home was perfect for a weekend getaway in Payson. The house has everything you could need. The back deck is so calming to sit on and relax. There is a phenomenal local restaurant directly next door. And Cynthia is so great and easy to work with! Definitely recommend staying here.

  • Lovely Cottage and 100+ Years of History on Main Street

    5 of 5

We spent a full month at The Romance Cottage in Payson, AZ. It was a wonderful relaxing and rejuvenating time for us. There are 102 years of history within the walls of this home and we are thrilled that we added our footprints to the continuing story. The cottage is on the original Main St. of Payson. There is recorded history all around, on almost all the buildings. We took daily walks to the nearby lakes and park. It is an easy and pleasant walk. There is a museum about Rim Country history and artifacts right by the park, as well as Zane Grey's house. The cottage itself has been beautifully restored. The owners put a lot of care and thoughtful intention in the restoration, and in making it a comfortable "home away from home". Even if you can only spend a few days, you will be glad you stayed. Quiet refreshment in the midst of a busy and hurried world awaits you. Great restaurants close by.

  • Great location & great comfort

    4 of 5

The location is super close (walking distance) to the local park, located in old downtown Payson. It was a comfortable place for us to stay with plenty of activities (games/books/WiFi/piano) for the family to do plus family sized tables. It was super comfortable beds (extremely soft) plus strategically placed night lights in the outlets to help with meandering in the dark at night. Communication with the owner was great and useful prior to arrival. She was extreemly responsive to questions.

  • Great little country home!

    5 of 5

Great little country home on main, but quiet street. Next to newly opened restaurant and short walk to historic western bar and grill. Enjoyed or stay and would definitely return.

  • Great location. Cute home

    5 of 5

If you’re looking for something in town this is a good bet. Within walking distance of restaurants and great park. Easy to find as well. Charming cottage. Clean. Good communication with owner. If you are planning on doing lots of cooking, the kitchen might be a little small. But, if like us, and you are planning on being in takeout it’s more than adequate.

House is just perfect for relaxation, daily travels to nearby lakes and activities and rest. Owner did a great job with furnishing, all the basic necessities, and being in touch, if you’re looking for a place to relax, unwind, not watch TV then this is a house for you !!

  • Cozy little house.

    4 of 5

It's a cute little place in the old part of town. Lots of antique stores. Would be nice to have some kind of visual entertainment even if it was a DVD player and TV to play it on.

  • Cozy and Comfortable Home

    5 of 5

Our family of 4 enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Romance Cottage! The house had everything we could need and was in the heart of the historic district of Payson. Green Valley Park (with 3 lakes within walking distance) was nice, but the abundance of outdoor opportunities that surround Payson kept us busy all 7 days of our stay. I definitely recommend Water Wheel and Willow Creek Lake. After a day outdoors, the Romance Cottage welcomed us home with its coziness and comfort. Definitely a wonderful getaway...highly recommended!

  • Sweet Little House and Gracious Hosting

    5 of 5

We had a memorable Christmas in Payson! Cynthia had the house decorated for Christmas including a cowboy hat topping the Christmas tree! While there is WiFi available, the absence of television returned us to a simpler time. The great selection of books and games and art supplies, makes this a good choice for young families. The Arizona room is a perfect place to soak up the morning sun or listen to the coyotes call to each other at night!

  • Wonderful cottage

    5 of 5

Charming cottage right in the heart of town. Close to shops, restaurants, lakes, and playgrounds. The accommodations were fantastic. From the cute home to the little touches like books, games, and puzzles for all ages this house had it all. It also had bottle water, creamer, condiments, and plenty of dishes and pans. I plan on staying here again when I come back to visit!

  • Rustic charm

    4 of 5

We loved the old time charm of the place and its location to Green Valley Park. The kids loved all the games, even though they were upset there were no TV's at first. The front and back decks were very peaceful. My only suggestion would be to add a BBQ as most people enjoying doing that while they are in the mountains.

  • Charming Get-A-Way

    5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a week away from the heat of the city in this charming village home. Due to our busy work schedules, we did need to use the internet on a daily basis. The connectivity was great and did not affect our work tasks in any way. The house was very comfortable and had a personality of it's own. The beautiful woodwork, stained glass doors on shelving, wood floors...all added to the charm. The front porch and backyard deck offered plenty of opportunity to enjoy the surroundings. Our pet, a lab-mixed dog, had a great time in the fenced backyard. He was free to roam and rest at will. The village is within walking distance. We took daily walks to the lakes and relaxed. The owner, Cynthia, was thoughtful and welcoming. Thank you!

  • Precious cottage right on Main Street

    5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our weekend getaway in Payson and at The Romance Cottage. We could see right away how much love you put into this home. Our girls enjoyed playing games and exploring nature around the property. Fishing at the near by lake was so much fun! My mother in law loved the concert in the park and how the community came together, it was very special. My husband and I absolutely loved sitting on the porch relaxing and taking in the lovely sounds of rain. Our dogs Snickers and Fox have never liked traveling or leaving our home but they seemed to love being here and acclamated very quickly to the house and yard. We would recommend The Romance Cottage in a heartbeat to anyone visiting Payson. Thank you, Jason, Jessica, Beverly, Skylar, Jordan, Snicker and Fox

  • Lovely historic location

    5 of 5

We have typically stayed in remote cabins Northeast of Payson but this time we changed it up to explore and enjoy the town, however, we did drive to the Rim several times to hike various trails and to swim in a remote high canyon lake or the Verdes River. The Romance Cottage was a perfect summer getaway for us; great location, old, but well maintained and very comfortably furnished historic house including kitchen essentials like coffee, bottled water and condiments. We took our dog, Dierks Bentley, everywhere with us including pet friendly bars, long walks around the historic streets, farmer's market and the nearby community lake several times. One evening after dinner while finishing off a couple bottles of wine we enjoyed the quiet back deck and played several kids games and put a Tweety Bird puzzle together. We can highly recommend this beautiful, historic house on Main Street Payson for either couples or families. Christy, Mike and Dierks
