4.0   -   Beautiful home with amazing views!
Reviewed on Apr 25, 2019
My husband and I, along with another couple enjoyed this beautiful home for a week in April. The house was immaculate and fully stocked with everything and anything we may have needed. The beds were extremely comfortable and waking up to the sunrise outside our window every morning was breathtaking. We used the hot tub every night to star gaze, what a sight! The pool was a bit chilly still, so we only braved it a few times. Lots of wildlife to be seen, and we looked forward to hearing the coyotes howl at night. Lots of quail, doves and hummingbirds came to visit and sip from the pool. The view from this place is unbelievable! We took lots and lots of pictures. Thank you Chris for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. Donna Harris Ontario, Canada
 5.0   -   Great desert retreat

Pictures do not do this place justice. As an early riser was able to catch sky-on-fire sunrises nearly every morning. Property was clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. Very Private. Challenging hiking is all of about 8 minutes away by car, and a cool outdoor museum is only 30 minutes out. I will say that the property is better suited for two couples rather than three as the third bedroom is more of an office with a (comfortable) bed. Chris was very resposnsive with correspondence and I always felt he was only a phone call away if needed. We will definitely be back!
 5.0   -   Always a good stay.

We spend 3 weeks each year during the Tucson Gem & Mineral show. It's a great place to stay and we feel right at home in the quiet solitude of the desert! The home has everything we need to be comfortable. I recommend it!

 4.0   -   Great home

Spacious, light, bright, clean and comfortable. Home is west of interstate, about 3-4 miles, up the hill a bit, with beautiful views of the valley to the east and most of Tuscon, far enough from the freeway that traffic noise does not reach the home. As advertised, pictures do not do justice to the desert beauty. As owner tells us, the last bit of road and drive (aggregate) include some twists and turns, but after first trip seems normal and easy. Home is spacious, with split bedrooms wings, a large and functional kitchen, large dining table, large laundry room, access to use garage, and very large, multi tiered outdoor areas. Plenty of kitchen stuff, towels, linens, etc. the only 'short comings' are not many outdoor chairs, and only three seats in indoor living area. The owner is great to respond to questions, and any perceived needs of occupants. We found the town access to be quite easy, maybe a bit farther than in town properties, but beautiful and quiet, did I emphacize quiet? wonderful peace and quiet Would choose this property again, should we be near Tucson.
5.0   -   Super stay! Super view!

We had stayed in this house before, November 2016. This time, in September, it was warm enough to swim in the gorgeous pool. Swim we did! My daughter had gotten married at Tumacacori on Saturday, the 22nd. The stress was over and we were able to relax and enjoy our visit with the newly weds and members of her new family. I would highly recommend this beautiful home. It's clean and well maintained and Chris, the host, is very accommodating.
5.0   -   Beautiful setting, great pool and view, oh those saguaros
Reviewed on Sep 25, 2018
Nearly everything was great. The pool is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be based on the photos. The setting and view are as awesome as you'd hope. The house is great, well stocked with towels, sheets, and blankets. A few things worth noting... There's a fair amount of off-roading to get to the front door, including some pretty steep inclines, but it's nothing that a normal car can't handle. Please also pay some attention to how to set the front and back door locks so you don't inadvertently get locked out. Buy some cheap inflatables for the pool before you arrive – you'll be glad you did. Previous reviewers have suggested that the third bedroom is "terrible", but it didn't look problematic in the slightest to us. My only suggestions to Chris are small ones: For the price of the place, a stash of toilet paper would be as appreciated as are the paper towels and napkins in the kitchen – maybe more so... The $10-per-night surcharge for any number of guests greater than two feels nickel-and-dime-y... The grill works great but could use a cleaning 'cause the flare-ups from built-up stuff will char your expensive steaks. All small, easily addressed issues that don't warrant subtracting a star. That's about it. We'll be back, I'm sure!

Great house with beautiful views. Would be 5 Stars easily with easier road and better patio furniture.
5.0   -   The house is very comfortable and the location is ideal if you enjoy desert scenery.

We enjoyed everything about this property: the bedrooms, the open layout, the expansive patio, the pool, the vista, even the oversized garage. If you enjoy being outside of town and relaxing, this is pretty ideal.

I was delighted with our stay. This is a lovely property with a beautiful view, fantastic pool/outdoor area, and comfortable accommodations. It is very private and the home is well outfitted and carefully maintained. I was hesitant to book this house at first because it was quite a bit more expensive than the others I was considering but I am so glad I did. It was clearly worth the additional expense. I recommend it.

This home was such a refuge! We spent a lot of time in the pool because it was 100 degrees! The sunrises (at 5 AM!) were amazing. The view at dusk and at night is spectacular!!! The house was comfortable. The AC worked great and was really quiet. We didn't cook much, but the kitchen was well stocked. We had a great time, once we got used to that very interesting road to the house!!!
 4.0   -   Wonderful Experience

Thanks Chris. This was the first experience renting a property for an extended stay, met all of our expectations. It was quite private and quiet but still close to everything we needed. Hiking opportunities were very close. Owner had lots of information in their welcome booklet and on their book shelf of things to do (including maps) and places to eat. We ate most of our meals at the house, kitchen was set up for that. Hot tub was nice to have, my only wish was that the pool would have been heated. We are hoping to make a return visit. It shows 4 stars only because I didn't know how to get the rate to accept a 4 and a half

My only regret is that we found so much to do around Tucson including an incredible food scene that we did not spend nearly enough time at the house. You could easily be happy just staying there all day enjoying the views. Sunrise is breathtaking ... Nearby hiking trails .. easy trip to anywhere in or around town. The house is spotless. The master bedroom immense. We found the garage door opener invaluable. We only used the front door the first day on arrival and the last to leave (with tears in our eyes). Chris, the owner is responsive via email. I had questions prior to booking and after arriving and the responses were thorough and prompt.

We loved our stay at Desert Escape. Everything was just as advertised in VRBO. The kitchen is well appointed with everything we needed. the view of Tucson was wonderful. We loved sitting by the pool first thing in the morning and last thing at night, such a great way to start and end our day. We would definitely stay at this home again.

We were hoping to find a quiet, peaceful, private desert escape and wow - did we find it here. This beautiful home is perfection. Nestled in the foothills, the views are expansive and utterly calming. The mountains shape the horizon with the Tucson lights sparkling at their feet. We wanted spaciousness for body mind and spirit and we got it! The home itself is utterly comfortable, well-stocked, and clean, the surrounding property sprinkled with the magical Saguaros and a host of other desert spirits. For being "close" to town, we felt set down in our own private oasis! The loudest sound we heard all week was the buzzing of bees in the palo verde trees. True medicine for the soul. Chris was easy to work with, kind and communicative. I cannot imagine a more perfect place we could have stayed. This home is as advertised - 100% perfection. With deep thanks to Chris for sharing this magical place with us, S & K

5.0   -   Nice house, quiet location, great views!

Comfortable contemporary home with large windows, high ceilings, and pleasantly modest decor. The skies, mountains, birds, sun, stars, and saguaro make for new and beautiful views all day ever day! Unlike many other properties, this house is well-stocked with toiletries, tissues, napkins, spices, multiple coffee makers and filters, and, a very rare find - knives that are sharp enough to use! Master bedroom has an awesome bathroom, great walk-in closet, and big windows. Other 2 bedrooms are just nice ordinary rooms. Be prepared for adventurous dirt and gravel roads into these private, quiet hills. Coyotes occasionally seen and heard which was cool. The only thing I wished for was heating for the pool. It is a gorgeous pool, but too cold for me to swim in. Floating gauge said 70F. We took dips in the luke warm hot tub instead. We didn't attempt to raise the temp in the hot tub, but it looks like that is an option. There are so many more things I want to do here in Tucson. I would love to come again!
5.0   -   Amazing views, great pool and Jacuzzi

I spent 15 days at this property and I must said it felt too short. I enjoyed every day. My wife and kid had an amazing time as well. The house is very well equipped, the kitchen has almost everything you could need with exception of blender. Neighbors are nice and driving to downtown takes about 15 minutes. I like everything about this property. I will recommend this place to all my friends traveling to Tucson.
3.0   -   The location and the views are great!

The House was nice and clean however there were a few issues. We were not tempted to lift the lid of the "spa” more than once (not worth the extra 200 Dollars) and the 3rd bedroom (no picture on the website) was very disappointing. We had to replace a few light bulbs, re-connect the TV to the dish and adjust the timer for the outside lights. The pool-lights don´t work anymore (Chris we followed your instructions but the lights simply don´t work anymore). The master shower splashes in all directions. The garden, once nicely laid out with lovely plants, is covered in weeds. We spoke to Chris on the phone who was nice and helped us to resolve some of the issues. The kitchen was easy to use and well stocked. Spring time is a great time to visit Tucson - the desert was in bloom which was stunningly beautiful and it was an enjoyable 85 Degrees during the day. We saw many different birds and even a coyote from the property. Tucson is a nice town and there are lot´s of things to do. "Old Tucson” is a fun place to visit and so is the Desert Museum. Both close to this property. We also visited the Tucson Museum of Art which we highly recommend not just for the exhibition but also for the architecture and the cafe (nice lunch & quaint outdoor seating). After visiting several galleries and Indian Jewelry shops in town we felt that Mac´s Indian Jewelry was the place we liked most out of all of them.
