  • Its the little things...

    3 of 5

This is a very nice, quiet and friendly property. However, there were small minor situations that happened to make me not so happy about our decision to stay. First, let me say that the little things that happened...some unavoidable...were due to weather and the time of year in Scottsdale. We drove a great distance...3 days. When we arrived on the property site, the A/C had just been turned on and the property temp was very high and the fridge & freezer were not cooling. Both of these issues made it impossible to move in on the day we wanted. So we optioned to stay at a local hotel. We contacted J an let him know of our decision...we returned early the next day...5:30am. And found the property had cooled down to an acceptable level...so we moved in. J had also confirmed that he had contacted a repair person and the fridge/freezer were up and running by later that morning. J was great to deal with...he responded immediately to our concerns. Other past comments on this property did prove out to be true...the walk from the parking lot is quite a distance when you are hauling your stuff to move in or bringing in groceries & water. This unit is on the 2nd level and it had been noted in past reviews that the stairs were a little steep...and we also found this to be true. But, luckily, we noted that quickly and made our shopping plans accordingly...and also met the downstairs neighbor who was great and offered me help in getting my groceries up the steps! We ended up moving out a few days early...due to the heavy "monsoon" weather this time of year...the storms caused the ceiling to leak in the living room (right over the couch). We optioned to move to a hotel for those few days. But, again, when I contacted J...at about 12:30am...he was very helpful and apologetic for the situation...even offered to put us into another property he had available. This property was located close to shopping and places to eat...all within a few blocks. We highly recommend the Rustic Grill just across the street...has some of the best coffee in the valley...and very friendly staff!

  • Comfortable, quiet, clean and a good location

    4 of 5

This condo was exactly as advertised. J quickly addressed the one small issue we had [upon arrival, the thermostat had low batteries and didn't work]. The quiet complex is well maintained, with a nice pool and hot tub, and a safe comfortable feel. It is located conveniently to north Tempe and Scottsdale; both by car. It would be a solid 5 star ranking except for the shower/tub -- the showerhead is very low, and the floor of the tub is very slick -- so much so that even the shower mat tended to slip. We were concerned about falling every time we showered. Otherwise the place is great, bed is very comfortable, large couch and rocking/reclining chairs made the living room inviting. The kitchen had sufficient pots, pans, plates, utensils and etc for our needs. The shaded patio had a table and 2 chairs. The 2 TVs were great and the internet service was solid. A few minor criticisms include 1) the bed frame is too big for the mattress -- hazard for stubbed toes, 2) lighting could be improved; place is a little dark especially in afternoons, and 3) despite the convenient automobile access to Scottsdale and Tempe, there is little in the way of shops/stores/restaurants in close walking proximity; although there is a Walgreens across the street. All-in-all, a very nice stay at a fair price for our 15-day stay in the Phoenix area.

  • Wonderful

    4 of 5

It was a wonderful place to relax. The king sized bed that must've been memory foam was entirely phenomenal and the sectional couch and giant ottoman were amazing. The rocking chairs were unexpectedly comfortable and the kitchen was fantastic with all of its amenities. I also especially enjoyed the smart TV. The small downsides were that we couldn't get the DVD player to work, the pool had yellow-jacket hornets, the shower was low and not very well pressured. There weren't as many bowls, towels or bedding as I'd like but location was decent walking distance from parking space and pool. Also, quite close to Fry's grocery store, restaurants and the zoo. Overall, I'd recommend it.

  • Quiet, Cozy and Centrally Located

    5 of 5

We normally spend a month on the shoulder seasons in Phoenix when it's not too hot, but my wife's Cancer treatments dictated the times we could get away from Canada for a few weeks and enjoy inexpensive wine, chicken and cheese (horribly expensive in Canada due to our Poultry Cartel and our greedy government taxes). This condo was perfect for us. King size bed, comfortable furniture, Modern Kitchen & bath counters, close to the pool & BBQ, and quiet. The property manager, J, was quick to remedy any problems we had, which were few (fridge freezer needed service). We found the best deals at Safeway and Costco - less than 2 miles away. If you're not especially mobile, the entrance to the condo is on the second floor of narrow stairs, and a fair hike from the parking lot. Otherwise we found the condo perfect for us, and the owner and property manager very responsive. We would definitely stay again, only not for a visit in the middle of July LOL.

  • Home Away From Home

    5 of 5

I very much enjoyed my 6-week stay at Spengler Manor. The place was well-kept, cozy, comfortable and conveniently located to all the places I wished to drive to. J and Kevin were very accomodating and easy to contact/work with (while there, I had a garbage disposal "situation" - I was immediately able to get J on the phone and he talked me through how to fix - whew!). :-) My only complaint is that the shower head was placed very low, so if you are of average or above average height, it's hard to get your head wet without stooping. Thank you for allowing me to stay at your place. I'd recommend it highly.

  • VACATION

    5 of 5

The condo is in a central location. Close to highways and close enough to Scottsdale or Phoenix. The condo itself was very comfortable and plenty of room. The pool area and whirlpool were very clean and plenty of people to talk to from all over the states. The owner made sure that if there was a problem he answered and took care of it right away. Tons of golf courses to choose from in the area. Also there are many other things in the area for family to do also.

  • Great location, very friendly condo community, loved the pool.

    4 of 5

Very clean, really enjoyed the whole experience. It probably helped that it was 90 plus every day we were there. We spent a lot of time at the pool and also really enjoyed the balcony, which was always in the shade. We were only 10 minutes from Old Scottsdale area, lot of things to do. We went to a couple Spring Training games, also very close to condo. The week went bye too fast. A perfect condo for a couple. A couple negative comments. It was a long walk from parking lot to condo. Especially bringing in suitcases and groceries. The condo could have used a few more towels and wash clothes. We had a great time, would like to come back some day.

  • Fit the bill for our baseball weekend

    4 of 5

Nothing bad about this rental. The good -Quite neighborhood, covered parking spot, pool, nice living, kitchen, and bedroom area. It had Cox cable and internet which worked well. The ok -The apartment is up several stairs (which I couldn't tell from the picture -looks like bottom floor to me), the bathroom area is small and shower head is VERY low (I'm vertically challenged and I had to bend down to wash my hair). Bed was very comfortable but a little low for someone with knee issues. I would stay again if we were in the area.

  • January in Phoenix

    5 of 5

Nice Condo at a great price. This condo is located very close to several Phoenix attractions and bike trails. The grounds, pool, & jacuzi are attractive and well kept up. While most of the Country was enduring the January 2017 cold snap, many of the condo guests were sun bathing and swimming in the heated pool. The Condo itself was comfortable and stylish with everything we needed for our stay. J. Mays, the property manager, is a classy gentleman that makes sure his guests have everything they need. He is very easy to get hold of and easy to talk to. We had some scheduling changes that required us to stay a couple of extra days. J went out of his way to seamlessly work everything out with the owner and gave us the extra days at a discount. There is no laundry machine in the unit but the complex's laundry room was near by, secure, and had credit card reader access to all the machines and dryers. I would definitely stay there again.

  • Fabulous Condo to stay!

    5 of 5

Our overall impression upon entering the condo, this is great we are going to enjoy our stay! Very nicely decorated in gray tones. Fully equipped with a large sectional sofa, large screen HD TV with cable, DVD in both the living room and bedroom. King Bed with a great mattress, we slept like babies on that mattress. Fully equipped kitchen complete with wine refrigerator! Dining area as well as bar stool for quick eating in the kitchen area. All the dishes, glassware, pots, pans, silverware you need for 4. Bathroom with tub and shower large walkin closet. Like we said just like home but with great weather and a pool! After parking for the unit under a covered parking space we walked into the complex to our condo and were immediately greeted by other guests and residents either walking in also or at the pool which we walked by going into the condo. We made use of the condo gym which has two trendmills, bike and cross trainer? The laundry was close to the condo and reasonable, only a one dollar a load. The pool was great along with the whirlpool hot tub. The pool water temp was great, very comfortable for the 85 degree weather we were having. Close the condo is Old Scottsdale we enjoyed dinner at Bootleggers and Pink Pony, cocktails and entertainment was great at Rusty Spur also in Old Town.Close to the condo is Pagado park with a trail to the hole in the rock. There is a Post Office, WalMart, Target, Frye and Albertsons close to the condo, also. You couldn't ask for a cleaner, well designed unit for your stay in Phoenix. We would highly recommended it to anyone. The cost is also very reasonable.

  • Quiet and lovely apartment and very accessible

    5 of 5

Jay is an excellent owner who understands how to make people feel welcomed into his rental. The place is clean, it has all the amenities one may think of. The place is quiet and very accessible to good eateries around Scottsdale and close to Downtown phoenix. There is a very nice pool and hot tub with clean and accessible laundry facilities. The majority of tenants in this place appear to be owners with enough tourists - snow birds - that the atmosphere is friendly and jovial should one spend time at the pool. There is a very nice workout room, and Jay's place is newly renovated, so all is in perfect working order. The couches are comfy and the TVs - one in the living room, one in the main bedroom - are great. There is a blue ray player as well. The kitchen is spacious should two people decide to cook together, and there is a very nice nook separate serving as a dinning room. The balcony is lovely and quiet should one decide to dine or have a meal out on the open air. We loved our stay there and plan to come back soon.
