  • Everything was as advertised.

Beautiful surroundings in a very quiet neighborhood was delightful

  • gorgeous view

    4 of 5

The house has an INCREDIBLE view of the mountains and city lights. It is a well appointed older home and the grounds were beautiful. We had six older family members staying there and everyone enjoyed the relaxed time we spent here. The only things keeping this from getting five stars were the old linens and the inflated costs for cleaning the house and heating the pool. Sheets were old and thin, pillows lumpy and stained, and blankets and bedspreads in need of cleaning. This hardly warrants an inflated cleaning fee.

  • The property was amazing. The house and amenities were perfect for a long family weekend.

We loved this house. We had a great time. It was perfect for a long family weekend away. The pool was awesome and the outdoor kitchen was a huge hit. The property was well maintained and the sunsets were breathtaking. We’ll be back!

  • We had the best girlfreinds week in this house

    5 of 5

We all loved this house. It was spacious, clean and had a beautiful view. The 3 bedroom and 3 bath was great for 6 of us. We enjoyed the big tvs in all rooms. The spacious kitchen had everything we needed. Though we didnt use pool much because of weather, there was one warm day we could sit and enjoy. Everything in house works and it was easy to get to stores and restaurants. Would definitely rent again.

  • Watch out for over-the-top fees on this rental

    3 of 5

This home was clean, roomy, well-appointed and had a great view of the Tucson mountain ranges, especially at night. It had most of the things a traveler would want, except shampoo. There wasn't a pen or pencil in the house... so a few more ordinary amenities like that would be nice. There was also no shade at all in or near the pool, and even in September it was unusable by us for that reason (The average temperature in Tucson is above 90 degrees from May to October) . The owner stated that the umbrellas blew away and they didn't replace them "at the request of the neighbors", which I found kind of odd. My suggestion would be to have at least one shade cloth suspended by a couple of wires that could easily attach to the existing adobe posts around the pool. That would really make the outdoor area a dream... The garage is nice, so you can keep your car in the shade. But the approach is STEEP, and you may need someone to direct you from outside the car when you try to back out of the garage. The reason I am not giving the rental more stars is the egregiously high fees charged by this owner. I am a VRBO host myself, and I believe that the taxes charged at vacation rentals should be equal to the Vacation Rental Tax Rate in the city where the home is located. Tucson's tax rate is 12.05%, but this owner is charging 22.5%! Their explanation is that they add in the property taxes on the residence. This is definitely not standard operating procedure. I guess they could add in their utility taxes, cable TV taxes, garbage taxes, sewer taxes, Internet taxes... maybe even the sales tax on the supplies they buy - and charge 35%. But charging anything over the Tucson vacation rental tax rate is, in my opinion, unethical. The owner also charges more than TWICE the nightly rental cost as a cleaning fee. We left the place spotless, and I am 100% positive this owner does not play her cleaner(s) anything approaching the amount she charged me for cleaning. As a vacation rental owner myself, I would hope that all of us in the industry would be more transparent, and fair, in the fees we charge our guests. Sincerely, Kirstie Wilde

  • Beautiful Home in Excellent Catalina Foothills Location

    5 of 5

This is a lovely home conveniently located in the Catalina Foothills. We stayed here with my family of four and my two sisters. It's a 2 minute drive to the trailhead of the Finger Rock Trail, and very convenient to restaurants and shopping in the foothills. The house is nicely appointed and the beds are very spacious. The pool is very nice. The location is fairly high up in the foothills, so you get a wonderful view of the city lights. I highly recommend this home!

  • Loved the house! Beautiful view, lots of space.

    5 of 5

We held a small 80th Birthday party here and it was perfect! There were lots of indoor/outdoor places to sit and enjoy the spectacular view of Tucson. It had all the amenities we needed and expected, even down to floats and raft for the pool. It was very private and quiet, yet a great central location to restaurants and shopping. My family has already asked to come back!

  • Property was BEAUTIFUL! I would return.

    5 of 5

The house and property were GREAT! We had an amazing time!! WE would return and use it again and again! Randy and Julie were so easy to deal with and so accessible. They made our experience so wonderful that we wished we lived in Tucson AZ instead of NY. The only minor complaints: umbrellas were both broken- the one by the pool was usable but definitely needs to be replaced and the one for the BBQ is missing a piece. Also, the bathroom sink off the bedroom with the king size bed is very slow to drain as is the sink in the half bath. Overall a wonderful house and a wonderful experience. Thank you!!

  • Outstanding property with great location and views

    5 of 5

This property exceeded my expectations! The views of Tucson and the Catalina Mountains are spectacular during the day and enchanting at night. The location was ideal for shopping, restaurants and easy access to main crosstown roads. The house is impeccably appointed and the kitchen well equipped for any cooking needs. Nature was a major factor daily; hummingbirds feeding as viewed from the kitchen window and cactus woodpeckers nesting in the Saguaro in the front yard. At dusk bats can be scene as well. Only caveat is that I had a very difficult time finding the property for the first time at night. There are no street lights in Tucson so I would highly suggest planning to arrive during the day, before it gets dark. I am looking forward to renting this property again!

  • Great view of city lights

    5 of 5

Wonderful home with fantastic view of the city of Tucson. Would definitly rent again. Clean home, well stocked kitchen, two living rooms on either side of fireplace. Owners were attentive to our concerns. Definitly need to heat pool if renting in March as night time temps cool way off. Plenty of fine restuarants in area. Plenty of hiking trails just down the street.

  • Great location! Beautiful views and lots of space. Great private home with pool

    5 of 5

Our family had such a wonderful vacation in this spacious and comfortable home. It has just fabulous views and lots of privacy. Our boys ages 8 and 10 loved having the pool and televisions in every room. The home is in a great location close to our favorite restaurants and grocery. Also it is very close to our favorite outdoor adventures of Sabino Canyon and Mt. Lemmon. We can’t wait to be able to come back to spend more time in Tucson.

  • Overall general impression was good. It met our needs-nice pool- beautiful view of Tucson

    3 of 5

The location and view from the property was very good. The house itself had a good layout but seemed a little tired. There was a broken dining room chair and a towel rack in the master bath that had come loose. The house however was comfortable and our family’s overall experience was very enjoyable.

  • Great house in a fabulous location!

    5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed at the house in mid-March. We enjoyed making most of our meals in the large, well stocked kitchen and there was enough room for us to spread out and have our own space. We spent a lot of time on the front porch because the view is great and we enjoyed listening to the sounds of Tucson. The location is fabulous. Tucson traffic is tedious, but this house is near a great mall and very close to many hiking trails in Sabino Canyon and elsewhere. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

  • Fantastic View of Tucson

    5 of 5

We walked in and were amazed. Have had many experiences with Home Away and none compared. Everything was clean and well done. The view of Tucson at night was awesome. The house was well stocked with the bathroom and kitchen necessities. Two of the bedrooms were really large, other was normal. Two areas for outdoor living kept drawing us outside. If I were going back to spend any leisure time in Tucson, this would be my choice.

  • Practically Perfect!

    5 of 5

The pictures do not do this house justice. It's so big inside. The sitting areas on either side of the fireplace would each be enough space on their own. The kitchen is stocked with absolutely everything you could need. There are so many closets in the bedroom and hallway there's no way you could use all the space! Each bedroom also has dressers with plenty of room for everyone. More than enough towels are available. I really appreciated that there were not a lot of knick knacks everywhere taking up surface space...like on dressers and tables...I hate having to move stuff in order to unpack and feel settled in a space. The view from the patio of Tucson is one in a million as well as the view towards the mountains. The pool was great for the kids although we didn't have a lot of extra time to use it...we were in town for a wedding. My 12 year old nephew said it was the best house he's ever been in and wished we could have a wedding in the family every year! Julie was very responsive when we communicated with her. The requirements for leaving the house were super reasonable. There were 2 things that could make this house perfect and I'm only mentioning them because it's so close to perfection!...One is the wifi didn't handle all the devices we sometimes had going. I'm not in tech but I assume there's a way to make it capable of handling more traffic. Two, there's no locks on the 2 bathrooms in the hallway (the master bath did have one). With so many people in the house, it would be a little more comfortable to have locks! Other than that, everyone in my family was so impressed with the space and I got lots of props for finding it!

  • View is spectacular!

    5 of 5

Six girlfriends on our annual summer trip! Overall we were very happy with our stay. Our main disappointment was the tempt. of pool. We thought with the tempt. as high as it was outside the pool water would of been warmer. It was too costly for us, to heat it for the week. Beds were comfortable. More bed pillows would of been helpful. Great location. Should of had the monthly exterminater come before our stay. Weren't fond of the amount of spiders in and around the house, increased throughout the week. It would of been helpful to have a channel listing for the televisions. We will definitely recommend this house. The Ya-Ya's Stevens Point, WI

    5 of 5

Just as shown in the information. But the views ( everything overlooked)are more spectacular from east to west night and day! From the veranda, from the pool, from the living room! And quiet! The house is well layed out and all necessities there ( nothing overlooked). We will be back!

  • Everything and More

    5 of 5

This property has so much going for it. Even with the pool, all the flat screen TVs, and huge kitchen... our favorite thing was to just sit on that front patio and stare out at the view. Distant mountains and big-sky during the day with an amazing night-time view of Tucson after dark. So much entertainment value in just walking around the neighborhood and staring at the cacti and wildlife. Being from Wisconsin, this was like a trip to another planet. I guess that we're easily amused. :) Any regrets? We should have checked into the local hiking trails up through the Catalina Mountains. Discovered the local trail heads late in our stay and ran out of time. These looked like some awesome trails to experience. We miss the area and will be back for sure. The Thompson Family Green Bay
