This home needed a good cleaning. There were used bars of soap in the bathroom, dirty counters and stove top, food drips on the front of the oven, dust and fingerprints on the coffee table, used coffee filter and leftover coffee in the coffee pot, etc. Too much to list. Ugh! When you are charged a non-refundable cleaning fee, you expect a clean house. We think a refund would be appropriate. The house was minimally supplied. There was no hairdryer, no alarm clocks, no suitcase stands. There were none of the basics for cooking such as aluminum foil or plastic wrap. There were no potholders, no clean dishtowels, no dishwasher soap, and only four coffee cups. There was no propane BBQ, which is a common rental home amenity. The washer and dryer worked well. There is DISH TV, but it did not offer ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, CNBC or PBS. The only news channel was CNN. It was a very minimal offering consisting largely of old television series, pay-per-view, on-demand and QVC programming. The only television in the home was in the living room. It was a quiet neighborhood. We felt safe leaving our rental car in the driveway though it did have an alarm system and we parked close to the front door. The ad for this house indicated there is a two-car garage – you might want to confirm it is available if having a garage is important to you. Of considerable concern to us, was the short step down into a porch addition (apparently) that was converted into a dining area. It is not easy to see the step and quite unexpected even though there is a brown feature stripe for the full length of it. On a tour of the home with the owner, she did not point out the step and one of us stumbled but did not fall. During our stay we needed to be constantly aware the step was there as it extended perhaps 25-feet with a post somewhere midway. If everything else had been okay, the step would prevent us from renting this home again. The view of the golf course and the outdoor seating was nice. The house faces west, so good sunsets but might be hot in the summer. The owner was personable and it pains us to complain. We are seniors who rent homes in the Phoenix area 1-2 times per year for a week at a time. This was not one of our better experiences.
