5.0   -   Lovely, quiet, and close to downtown
Reviewed on Mar 15, 2019
I stayed here a week while exploring Tucson. I really loved the decor and it was a perfect size for one or two people (one in my case). The owner lives on the adjoining property, and so I felt like I could reach out whenever I needed, but she never intruded. The kitchen had lots of amenities, including pots and pans, fridge, microwave, and oven, so I was able to cook meals. The location is just a 10 minute walk to downtown and an easy drive to other parts of Tucson. All in all a great stay!

4.0   -   Mi casita is very nice

The place is very clean and functional. Sadly the weekend we were in Tucson was cold and we didn't get to enjoy the outside amenities. We had a little difficulty finding the place but once we did it was centrally placed for our activities. Joanne is very personable and I enjoyed exchanging texts with her. She lives next to the property and gave us a little tour when we checked in. She also provided a few "welcome" treats, fruit, etc. upon our arrival. Other than that we never saw her although she would have made herself available if we needed anything. Appreciated the secure, off street parking, also, since we were not familiar with the Tucson area. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We had a lovely stay at this casita. Joanne takes great pride in her casita. The unit is comfortable and relaxing. The bed is very comfortable and the sheets are the thickest. The towels are thick and luxurious as well. The seating area is perfect, a comfy couch and chair. The kitchen has all the necessities. Upon arrival we were treated with scones, oranges, bananas, and coffee. A wonderful surprise and just goes to show that Joanne appreciates her renters. The wifi is excellent and the TV is super easy to use! The outside patio is lovely and had it been warmer we would have spent more time out there! A really nice perk is the secure, covered car port. Joanne has thought of everything. Another nice perk is she supplies dish soap, laundry soap, bath wash, shampoo, and cream rinse! If you are looking for a relaxing stay in Tucson this is the place. We had to leave early due to heater issues in our home in Albuquerque but when we return to Tucson we will definitely look at staying here again.

If your travel plans bring you to Tucson and you want to experience it as a local... this is the place for you! Close to everything, yet private. The Artist's eye and attention to Southwest details is evident at every turn. Both indoors and out! Love, love, loved it! I'm already making plans for my return visit!!

Mi Casita is everything we look for in a vacation rental. It is comfortable, expertly appointed to accomodate any need, and has a homey and relaxed ambiance. We experienced a feeling of seclusion as well as close convenience to the heart of Tucson. Joanne is a great host: there if you need her and invisible if you prefer solitude. The neighborhood is very quiet and we felt perfectly secure at all times. The far off train whistles we heard a few times added to our enjoyment. Off street, locked parking is certainly a bonus that you don't ordinarily find. All in all, a perfect week in Tucson!

We spent 4 overnights in this cute casita. The host was warm and inviting and her treats to get us started appreciated. We walked thru the historic neighborhood and to town. Even had a chance to take in the gem show and drove to Sabino Canyon. Comfy bed, great bath and kitchen.

 5.0   -   Charming, comfortable casita
Reviewed on Jan 15, 2018
The casita was a perfect home base for our recent Tucson visit. It´s very well-equipped in the kitchen, the bed is large and comfy, and the inside is spacious and comfortable but also very cozy. Joanne waswonderful! She was ready for our arrival and had prepared a few small breakfast/snack/fruit items, which was perfect given our late evening flight. Getting to/from the city sites and the nearby hiking was a breeze. We´d definitely stay here again!

Joanne's Casita is as it is described - quaint, cozy & comfortable. Kitchen is well-stocked, the fresh fruit & snacks were a nice added touch. Walking distance to several restaurants & a fun neighborhood to explore. We enjoyed our stay.

Mi Casita was booked for several days so we took a side trip to River Bend Hot Springs. Coming back to Mi Casita was like returning home! As I said in my earlier review, the the inside, the outside, and Joanne are all charming and restful. We will be back.

5.0   -   Wonderful stay: charming, comfortable, convenient

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the casita, and it's location was perfect for exploring the historic neighborhoods, downtown Tucson as well as heading out to nearby canyons and parks for day hikes. The casita is very comfortable, cozy, thoughtfully decorated and and the kitchen is well equipped. We appreciated being able to make our own breakfasts (Joanna's scones are delicious!) and dinners. There is also a washer and dryer that came in quite handy! The casita is situated next to Joanna's house, and secure off street parking is provided in a driveway that is part of the garden surrounding the house. All in all, a great lodging experience!

5.0   -   Good location, comfy bed, well equipped

We really enjoyed our one week stay at Mi Casita. Weather was warm enough to sit outside, in the 70s during the day in mid-November, but cool at night. Joanne has even supplied small lap blankets you could use outside as day turns to evening. Very comfortable bed, large shower, good books and local magazines, great wi-fi, all appliances worked well. The neighbourhoods around north and west of the casita are primarily historic homes as well as a new solar-powered subdivision, all interesting for walks. Downtown is close by if you were visiting without a car. Downtown's best for history buffs includes: Congress Hotel and the Cup Cafe, self-guided blueline walk including Barrio Viejo, also the Museum of Art. We enjoyed the Postal Museum, museums at the University, just walking the university grounds, Iron Horse district. Also tram at Sabino Canyon and walk partway back, La Encantada shopping centre in the foothills (AJ Foods) and the Desert Museum. A longish day trip south to Bisbee is a must, they have a Smithsonian affiliate mining museum and a quirky, artsy community. Also head east of Tucson and up to Chiricahua National Monument if it's a sunny day. Stop at the Amerind Museum Foundation and Gallery (we save a wild javelina on their grounds), on to Willcox for lunch at Isabel's, get to the monument in afternoon for best photos of stunning volcanic ash columns. And don't stay too long at the casita as we'll be back!

5.0   -   Cozy adobe cottage with a sense of style

Clean, comfortable little house with everything you might need for a short vacation (e.g. fully outfitted kitchen, washer and dryer). We stayed with our two kids (5 & 10) and it worked great. The neighborhood is nice - I think has more character than most Tucson neighborhoods, but you do need a car to get places. Joanne (the owner) is very friendly and helpful. Basically no complaints - it was a great place to stay.

Joanne met us at the rental when we arrived and showed us around. The place is small and cozy, just as described. The kitchen has all the necessary items needed. Joanne provided some fruit and granola bars when we arrived which was a nice touch. They were very good. We slept very well in the comfortable bed. The wifi worked good as well.

Mi Casita exudes the warmth, charm and artistry of the owner in every nook and cranny. It had everything we needed for 2.5 weeks (2 adults and a golden retriever!), including lovely outdoor spaces, a super comfy bed, a well stocked kitchen and above all - a fantastic location. We biked and walked downtown (safe even at night), and had a ball exploring the historic neighborhoods in the immediate vicinity. It's a perfect base to explore Tucson Mountains and wine tasting/canyon country south of Tucson. Our hostess helped us navigate the area and graciously provided us with every small request. If you are interested in hiking, photography, golfing, mountain biking, historical walks, local breweries, birding, wine-tasting, yoga and/or shopping - this area and property are for you!!

5.0   -   Nice house, great location

Very well equipped, pleasant, clean and comfortable house. Very private within a locked fenced area with nice patio area for sitting and eating. Hostess was very nice and available. Easy and safe walk to restaurants, etc. Only drawback for me was the train tooting in the middle of the night each night for extended period (seemed like about ten minutes - but I was half asleep).
